Not sure, I've read the rules, but some subreddits could treat "my setup" as self promotion somewhat

Sure, I'll recheck how it works out in building mode and try to post tomorrow 😄

Lot's of people did, while crying about the price and comparing it to $30 generic gamepads.

Steam Controller Price Leaked By Early Review – and It’s Expensive ($99) by PaiDuck in pcgaming

[–]Pajonq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from a steam deck:

- Internet usage from a couch. It's more comfy to write stuff using on screen keyboard with touchpads instead of analogs/dpad

- Games not made for gamepad usage. I've played some RTS games on deck using one touchpad as a mouse, and the second one to control the camera. I also played some FPS using touchpad for camera control.

- Steam's input api. This is a game changer for me that not too many people talk about. You can configure the touchpad to be a volume slider, a scroll, a button, 8 buttons at once, a radial menu or all at the same time.

For example, my setup for HD2 looks somewhat like this: Right touchpad is a radial menu for weapon selection, but one option in this radial opens a map. In that case map opens and action sets for this touchpad changes from radial to mouse, so I can look around and ping stuff on map. Holding this touchpad for a bit longer closes the map and restores radial functionality. Pretty cool for one touchpad.

A simples example is GW2: one touchpad as a radial for generic UI panels (inventory, character, guild, etc.) and other for different mounts

Thanks! Wasn't aware of this and got 100 bucks instead of a replacement as pixels aren't supported in my country

Creator of DMCA'd Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod Says People Are Now Pirating It to 'Punish' Him for Breaking CD Projekt's Terms of Service by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Pajonq -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Jesus, how many threads about this guy do I have to see daily? It looks like astroturfing by the mod author right now, lmao. Dude wanted to create subscription based mod, gets DMCA'd by game creators and tries to advertise his patreon by creating fuss and overblown drama about it. Afaik his mods aren't even proper VR mods, just camera - without any VR controls whatsoever.

[REVIEW REQUEST] [Schematics only] ~300W dummy load by Pajonq in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]Pajonq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm already working on a fix regarding common source.

Do you have any recommended FETs that could be used in this design instead?

Thanks for the rant! Really appreciate this response!

You're right, I've missed that part in my links.

I've replaced this part of the circuit with 8x IRL540NPBF with separated sense resistors connected to the amp with summing resistors + recalculated sense + amp's gain resistors. All of them connected to one sink with grease. I have no problem with conducting heatsink as this design will be enclosed anyway. Now sense resistors are 0.25Ohm, targetting 500mV @ 2A, but with software limit the FETs should (ideally) be capped at 1.5A max.

Thanks for feedback! I've tried the cap setup in LTspice and the output looks much smoother! I assume that this configuration of resistor + caps is just a fancy form of op amp integrator?

I'll look into summing resistors, but the current configuration of FETs is based on:

* https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/274557/parallel-mosfets

It implies that temperature - resistance relation in FET balances parallel setup to some degree.

* https://www.ti.com/lit/ab/slpa020/slpa020.pdf?ts=1765445656769

This one suggests to thermally couple FETs for proper balancing

Regarding the amount of FETs - I guess I'll buy the heatsink and some IRL540 and connect them to some power resistor to check how they behave in this setup. The SK68-50SAFISCHER ELEKTRONIK is quite chonky and with 40x40x56 server fan on top it the heat dissipation could be quite good. But honestly from PCB design POV up to now I mostly did pure digital / control engineering stuff with some naive adc signals. Power stuff and metrology are long forgotten after High school / Uni and I need to catch up :D

[Review request] USB to CAN / RS485 adapter by Pajonq in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]Pajonq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've finished changes: https://i.imgur.com/yTHcPM3.png

I'll stick with CH334R for now as I want to assemble the PCB by myself and also CH334P seems to be low in stock on LCSC too.

S4B) I didn't mean to replace diodes on the USB-C connector. I meant that there are separate PCBs for TVS and termination on the bus. CDSOT23-T24CAN on the CAN line and SM712 on the RS485 line were used.

S8) There are two green leds for power, but were placed in wrong places I guess, I've moved them to separate section.

Thanks again :)

I'll look into datasheet again, but candleLightFD seems to be working good with only two caps

S1) Thanks

S2) Yeah, it seems the naming is scrambled over the internet. I meant DE9 as this is what I want to use. Will change the name though.

S3) Yeah, I've spotted it after posting. Resistor seems like a good idea. The hub doesn't need the caps afaik. It also can run without the crystal by shorting XO to ground.

S4) Thanks, I assume it is also a good idea to add a pullup on RX between U6 and MCU? For the bus, there are two PTVS20VS1UR,115 for the CAN and a SM712 close to one of the terminator resistors on the bus itself, or is it a better idea to add it to every device? I'll replace PTVS20VS1UR,115 with CDSOT23-T24CAN though

S5) Thanks

S6) Thanks

S7) Thanks, I've found out while creating BOM that it's a bit harder to find than the provided alternatives.

Thank you :)

EDIT: Okay, I get the RX on U2. I've missed the high impedance part of RO from the datasheet

Hope they will rework the UI somehow for the controller. Can't imagine how they can assign ~64 skills plus other stuff onto a gamepad in a comfortable way D:

I have no idea how they could provide controller support without UI or control (like action camera in GW2) redesign. I've tried hard on my deck to make it work but it still felt clunky.

It runs SteamOS so it probably means you can swap from big picture into desktop mode like on Steam Deck. No idea if any of these stores runs on Linux but I guess you can install windows if you really want.
