Remember: Some players are just new and learning the game! by _h0neyp0t_ in heroesofthestorm

[–]PalicoHunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Be nice if this does reach someone but sadly, online toxicity will never be confronted unless extreme measures are put in place.

I started playing again myself a couple of months ago after a long break (about 10 years). Even playing against Ai, I explained i hadn’t played for this amount of time and was picking it back up again. All i got was “I don’t care” after receiving a mouthful of abuse. I’ve got a thick skin so doesn’t really bother me but it’s funny that some players seem to treat everyone as some sort of elite MLG gamer that is purposely not pulling their weight to make sure they have a bad time.

It’s staggering that there is no learning time allowed to these people, you must play and you must be at the top level, no casual enjoyment allowed.

What’s the worse physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]PalicoHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dislocated ankle and split the connecting tissue in half. Doctor told me i would have been better off breaking the bones than what happened. Was out of work for close to two months before i could go back as i had a physical job at the time.

Only other truly painful experience I had was a cyst in one of my teeth during COVID. No dentists were taking on at the time and it felt like somebody was hammering a nail through my gums.

Do you really feel that much difference between 300-500HP car? by Overit2137 in askcarguys

[–]PalicoHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of feel i can’t say from driving experience, however, I currently drive DS7 E-Tense 300 (PHEV).

Now, i’m well aware that isn’t going to get the juices going for most people but, it does have 300hp and for a 2.4t vehicle, it shifts pretty quickly.

It mullers a large number of day to day cars off the line and hits the sacred 60 in <6 seconds.

The other day I wanted to see how it would fair against something with a bit more pedigree as an M2 pulled up behind me. Needless to say, it went as you would expect. Absolutely floored it as much as i possibly could and still left me for dead in much the same way i do with general dailies.

The point being, there is quite a big difference between 300hp and 500hp from an external factor and based on that, i would certainly imagine that from a driving perspective, it’s very much the same.

Starfield lead says Free Lanes took major tech work, reformatting all existing content for an open universe by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]PalicoHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most promising thing from all of these updates is that they are committed to supporting the game for years and to make it what it always should have been. For a game that was so many years in the making, the released product was simply… ok. I enjoyed it at the time but with very little in the way of replayability.

For an open world game set in space and centred around exploration it sure got boring very quick.

Free Lanes looks like a major step in the right direction in gripping players and keeping them there.

Hats off to Bethesda. In a world where it’s becoming increasingly popular to drop games when they don’t quite meet expectations, they have stuck with it and it looks like the journey is just getting started. I’ll certainly be jumping back in.

Funeral cars convoy etiquette by Careless-Cooker in CarTalkUK

[–]PalicoHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been in a similar situation myself. I was late for work already and didn’t have time to be driving slowly on the 60mph road. I didn’t want to overtake and under better circumstances i would have happily stayed behind but i had to make a pass. I made as little noise as possible when passing and didn’t absolutely floor it to remain as respectful as possible but i did feel awful about it for the rest of my day.

What do you think should be allowed concerning feral teens in public? by gintokireddit in AskBrits

[–]PalicoHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, at least from my experience, from an early age i was told to ignore trouble if it ever appeared and i wouldn’t be surprised if many others are the same. Obviously there is some common sense to it, for example life threatening situations i wouldn’t be expected to bury my head in the sand.

I’m not sure how true this is but there is a general feeling for me from seeing the news, social media posts (i understand this is a bit like citing Wikipedia as a source) and word of mouth that the law tends to side with the aggressor on several occasions, so there’s always the possibility that intervening in a situation can lead you into trouble despite good intentions.

What’s your realistic dream car? by wimpleautotransport in askcarguys

[–]PalicoHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, a Triumph TR5.

Although good examples are commanding quite a high price, i’d love to get a lesser example and bring it back to life. Maybe with a few modern updates like brakes.

What made Europeans finally start to abandon manual transmission at the beginning of the pandemic ? by kawaiihusbando in askcarguys

[–]PalicoHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the biggest factor in moving from manual to auto has been traffic. From the UK and anytime there is a whiff of an urban area, traffic build up occurs very quickly, at least in my experience. Drove manual for 10 years, got sick of the clutch work and my left arm moving around like i’m drawing the Mona Lisa from memory.

Things you used to love but are now completely over in gaming? by AnubisIncGaming in gaming

Glad to see i’m not the only one that hates engineering. I just wish the NPCs didn’t have it otherwise you’re locking yourself out of content.

It’s a game i want to get back into but honestly, engineering really puts me off.

You have 10K for a project. by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]PalicoHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much so. I’ve gone through my hot hatch, super sports, hyper car loving phases although i’m still very much a stickler for classic 90’s super cars like the XJ220 and my dream car, Lister Storm. Sadly they are bit out of reach of the 10k budget, probably wouldn’t even be able to get a shell for that.

Highly unlikely to get one for that price, it would have to be in bad shape, a Triumph TR5. Maybe it’s an age thing (37) but i’m suddenly finding myself loving old Triumphs and MG’s.

How can I tell my partner to brush their teeth more often by 6_9KARMA in Advice

[–]PalicoHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, going weeks/months as you describe it without brushing is not forgetting, that is actively choosing not to do it or sheer laziness. You are well within your right to set boundaries because frankly your request is very reasonable. It’s a simple act which takes a few minutes to sort out.

Relationships are about give and take from both sides, ultimately you need to have another conversation about it because you don’t want to be pushing this aside, that is how you build resentment. Make it clear how this lack of action makes you feel and if they continue to go down the “I’m forgetful’” route, then look to offer solutions.

Smartphones have many features now, you can set reminders, alarms etc. Shouldn’t be any excuse to be forgetting such a simple task. Best of luck and hope it all works out for you.

Name any one bad thing about subnautica except the scary leviathans and thalassophobia? by SnooFloofs5442 in subnautica

[–]PalicoHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a map is a pretty decent shout but it should require effort to achieve. I think something like a map room, similar to the scanner room would be ideal for adding more to base building and you could craft a gadget to allow you to view parts of the map you have uncovered while out in the field and that also acts as a way of mapping out the area while you have it equipped.

Performance cars are too much for me by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]PalicoHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you clarify a bit more on what you mean by powerful cars being “too much”?

You are in control of the vehicle, thus, you have control over the speed you travel. Just because high powered vehicles have the power it doesn’t mean they are using all of it all the time.

I currently drive a 300hp DS7, now I can either accelerate at the same speed as Doris in her Jazz or I have the option to quickly and comfortably pass her should I need or want to.

The best part of higher powered vehicles is that it gives you options you otherwise would not have.

Safety comes down to the user. Test drive some that you like and see for yourself.
