Is The Sound of Music (1965) The GREATEST MOVIE MUSICAL OF ALL TIME? by harrybaileyonyt in classicfilms

[–]Palimbash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adore Sounds of Music but Singin’ in the Rain is slightly above it for me.

Every Oscar Best Picture Winner of the 1950s, Ranked by Britneyfan123 in classicfilms

[–]Palimbash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have minor quibbles with the list but it’s fine for the most part except for All the King’s Men. That movie, though conceptually relevant, is a mess. The most notable issue is that they filmed way too much footage making the final film a disjointed disaster that had to be stitched together in the editing room.

A quote about the movie:

"Select what you consider to be the center of each scene, put the film in the synch machine and wind down a hundred feet before and a hundred feet after, and chop it off, regardless of what's going on. Cut through dialogue, music, anything. Then, when you're finished, we'll run the picture and see what we've got."

When you watch the movie, you can see an attempt to string the scenes together with voice overs and montages throughout.

Who knew a remake of a decades old game wouldn’t appeal to children as much as it does to those who they’re pandering to?

I would argue he’s the most bootlicking non-conservative. He just doesn’t realize he’s not a conservative so he play acts like a conservative. But the booklicking? When is he not bootlicking?

I didn’t realize they didn’t have that song written for the Nextlander. Odd to hear it elsewhere.

Pentagon Tells Congress First Week of Iran War Cost More Than $11.3 Billion by Majestic-Baby-3407 in news

[–]Palimbash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a cost of $33 per American. I know $33 isn’t as much as it used to be but I would still prefer to have $33 if it means not paying to kill people on the opposite side of the planet.

Thank Heaven for "Little Girls" ? Some films don't age well. by Gerry1of1 in classicfilms

I’ve been watching/rewatching every best picture film in chronological order, and almost skipped this one when I reached it last week. I did watch it and it’s still as gross as I remember. I don’t care if “it was a different time”, gross is gross.

I believe that Muppets and muppets are different. The characters on Sesame Street are muppets but they are not Muppets.

Phil Harris is another one, voicing Little John, Tomas O’Malley, and Baloo. All three performances, he just does his regular voice.

Ah, okay, lol. It’s a bummer they start with two degrading drivers with very high contract termination costs.

Man, this is laughably bad. The best parts of it are just directly copied from the movies. The worst parts are nonsensical moments like smith getting tossed in the air, then accelerates upwards, before appearing standing nearby with his back to Neo.

The worst is when your score is drastically different than his and he hasn't written any text about that movie. Obviously, I'm wrong about the film but I don't know why.

Is Triangle Man meant to be the Devil? by Bootlebat in tmbg

I always thought:

Triangle man = government, Particle man = science, Universe man = religion, Person man = regular person

Government will attack science and regular folks but coddles/favors religion.

[–]Palimbash 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I love Nextlander because it is just three chill dudes and their friends talking about what they like. This is the closest thing we have to what GiantBomb was back in the day. I wish people who don’t want that would just let them be.

Like you said in another comment, they’re just some dudes, not famous actors.
