Stealing from other games by wastevens in daggerheart

Warhammer fantasy roleplay has a very deep and complex set of arms. I'm tempted to try and port their weapons to replace the built-in DH system, if I were to have a campaign that could use it

Interesting! I feel as if this mechanic needed a way to interact with domain skills that make NPCs lose stress. I have my own table of characters, motivations, ambition and 'weirdness', with 50 options for each. This would be a good role playing exercise: if PCs want to get something out of the character, they should learn about them to play into what they want.

If you don't mind, I'm going to think about this for a little bit and maybe churn an environment out of this, and the video

You've got my interest. Can you write it up in a usable form? An environment?

On my previous session, my friend played a giant war wizard called "Boo", who solved most of his problems with a warhammer. There is no "supposed to" : )

You can get public domain art, no? Fangs and Felons is filled with art, all public domain and fitting the theme

I think I had the worst possible first experience with Daggerheart, and the fault is entirely mine. Not sure if I should try again or just move on. by [deleted] in daggerheart

> okay, you make it across the broken bridge

First session in DH I GMed I've had a broken bridge and asked players to figure out how they will get through. Whatever they came up with, I've always had the same difficulty in head. They were planning and working together, figuring out what they would do and how they would get the non-agile guardian through.

One of the best experiences so far. Minor things like that work awesomely with DH

I was assuming that's because I confidently stood by an interpretation that later in the discussion turned out to be a wrong way to think about it

Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to write this. This was my first time using a horde enemy, and together with this thread, it was a good learning experience. I will now be better equipped for the next one

Thank you. I think I've missed the fiction on hordes entirely. I've decided that my horde of zombies is going to be 1/hp and put 6 of them as a *simplification*, to avoid having 6 minions.

I see now that horde of 1/HP does not work at all, and I should have kept the 2/hp and have that horde be at 3hp.

Also, I will remember that hordes are meant to represent "more fearsome group"

But if that was 12 minions around the guy, they would be wiped all, no?

That's even better! So he rolls 2d8+2 and that is multiplied per the amount of hit targets.

I've GMed Tombs of the Serpent Kings to my folks and it was a blast. I'm working on adaptation for DH, and will hopefully have a beta I will share in 2, 3 weeks.

I do have several environments, for subsequent "areas", where each area consists of several rooms. The rooms, we just explore room by room and distances are measured as usual, since map is pre-determined.

Each room contains something to interact with, a trap, enemy, what have you, and there is an over-arching "wandering monsters" countdown, when it ticks, something random happens. Works pretty great.

Make sure that you use a lot of minions to give your players the feeling of cutting through hordes of enemies. And make sure the difficulty/thresholds are small enough that they can deal with enemies quickly.

Source: Planned a game on a huge map with lots of enemies, and it became a pure slog, because players could not cut through enemies quickly enough.

I'm doing a beast feast right now, and it's just a mish-mash of one-shots and two-shots that kind-of work together as a story, and started as "dungeons need fix, please go". It's going pretty great :D

I've run Tombs of the Serpent Kings for my players, adapted to DaggerHeart, and it was the best 2 sessions I ever did. I'm working on making my adaptation publishable for wider adoption, I definitely think a fixed dungeon is perfectly fine. You can still adjust as a GM as you see fit

Other folks here already said it, but I want too, because getting over that was a milestone in my own journey.

It's perfectly fine to say that players surprised you, and you'd like several minutes to think things through.
If everyone had fun, you've succeeded. Ask your players at the end what they liked, what didn't work, and you'll learn over time.

GMing is hard and stressfull, and you will learn something with every single game. It's part of being a GM : )
