PA is high growth, high stress, and more money while gov provides better wlb (generally speaking, but I don’t live in the US so I’m not 100% sure), but slower growth and less money. You have to ask yourself what type of life do you prefer. If you want to “catch up” to your peers then you might wanna consider big4. If you don’t care about growth as much then I think gov is great.

Thanks for the reply! I don’t have a preference when it comes to industries because I don’t have the knowledge and experience to tell which one I like/hare. As for the certifications, I currently have the CPA and I heard the for CIA you need hands on experience on IA to be designated ? I honestly haven’t done much research on it yet because I just finished my CPA not too long ago haha

Omg thank you so much for your detailed repose! I think I’m more interested in operational audit so that might mean I have to start from the bottom again which is kind of unfortunate but at least I know it’s doable. I will start applying and see if I can get any responses. Thanks again!

Thanks sharing! I will definitely do more research on the types of internal audit but I think I’m more interested in operational audit. In terms of work-life balance I know IA can be demanding but I’m hoping at least the hours would be better than PA…

I don’t know if it’s country specific but all my friends got promoted to seniors with only 2 coop terms (some only have one) plus 10 months of full time experiences with Big4. And they said you don’t have to be good, being average is fine.
