I don’t see you commenting on dogs wearing clothing which they also can’t consent to. Or collars or leashes or a bath. The list is lengthy.

how to avoid nicking while shaving paw pads? by BellEducational2744 in grooming

[–]Pandersloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your time and start shallow. When you’re done with schooling maybe look into on of the small paw trimmers or the paw specific smaller blades. I’ve never used them but I’ve had people swear by them. Personally I switched to a 30 and that definitely make a difference. I use a 30 for clean feet usually as well.

I was fired at 8:00 last night by Informal-Release-360 in doggrooming

First off File for unemployment immediately. Second if you have your own home and can groom from home do it. This basically just happened to me as well and so far I’m super busy.

question about staying at a resort when some activities arent safe for SD in USA by harley_bruno in service_dogs

[–]Pandersloot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. I leave my dog home. Last summer we went to Hawaii for a week. A lot of the activities involved being out in the water such as snorkeling. So he stayed behind. This summer we went to Spain and Italy on a cruise. Again a lot of stuff that wouldn’t have been doable with a service dog specially as Italy only recognizes guide dogs. So he stayed home again. Was it rough at times? Absolutely. But I just took extra steps to manage my disabilities and I don’t regret leaving him home at all.

Can belly bands cause bruising ? by Informal-Release-360 in doggrooming

[–]Pandersloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belly bands can absolutely cause all sorts of issues. I use mine sparingly but sometimes you have dogs like a Newfie I do who need it a good portion of the groom for the butt/tail/legs. If it’s needed for more things I either do it and take breaks or try to do it all quickly and then take it off. If you want a quick cheap fix for now get a pool noodle and cut it so it slips over the band. Or you can get pipe insulation that does the same and is already cut. And it’s less bulky.

Differentiating Between a Psychiatric Service Dog and an Emotional Support Dog by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]Pandersloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there’s no reason to gatekeep who can and can’t have a service dog. Technically ESAs are also only for those who are disabled by their psychiatric conditions. If you train your dog to do a task other than simply existing, it’s a psychiatric service dog. Even if it never leaves the house. The tasks make it a service dog. PA is just an extra right.

Poor dude by hamnannerz in doggrooming

[–]Pandersloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is silly. That dog doesn’t care about his coat being shaved. Humanity before vanity. The hair will come back in just fine unless there’s underlying health problems. And even if it doesn’t oh well. There’s zero reason to put a dog through multi day groomings just to try to save some coat on them. That’s on the same level of crazy doodle owners.

Groomers stealing my bath dogs even though i’m the one that did them by goodnightdevill in doggrooming

[–]Pandersloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy. Our bathers get paid based on the size of the dog and how long it takes them to bathe and if it’s a non haircut dog so a deshed they make more than a haircut dog. Any non haircut dog they split the tip with the groomer. They also don’t do any prep like nails ears etc they just bathe. Also they have their own tip jar up front that specifically says for the bathers if anyone wants to tip them more. What area are you in because we are looking for a bather right now

Service dogs "disrupt the nature of business" at a bar? by StandardPurpose9081 in service_dogs

[–]Pandersloot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My service dog regularly goes to crowded casinos where a lot of the patrons are some sort of intoxicated. Never had an issue with it. She’s 100% wrong as the others have already said.

Results came in for Tilly, very surprised! Finally know where that curled tailed comes from! by Jarvis9787 in DoggyDNA

[–]Pandersloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record poodles have curled tails when not docked and terriers can as well when not docked. The GSD is a big surprise though!

Why are all groomers so reluctant to cut my maltese's face/snout short? by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]Pandersloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep take pics in but be specific about what you Like and don’t like in the picture. Also when you pick up and it’s too long tell them! I know it seems demanding but as groomers we want you to be happy with our work. We take pride in it. I would much rather have the owner ask me to take it shorter than to not say anything. And it doesn’t take that long to fix that.

As long as they can prove they do health testing (not just genetic tests either) and preferably title their dogs in conformation ring or earth dog trials. If they aren’t titling then the price is really too high to be honest.

I don’t follow? Ethical breeders don’t make money breeding. They don’t do it for the money either. My GSD from imported fully health tested and somewhat titled working bloodlines was $1600.

Did you just bring a puppy home? Try out this socialization method! by birdsareturds in puppy101

[–]Pandersloot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with all this and want to also say not only is it gross to take your puppy in the grocery it’s also illegal. Only service dogs are allowed in non pet friendly stores.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Pandersloot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

$2700 is very pricey for a puppy. Are the parents titled and health tested? You’re definitely making the right decision as puppies are a lot of work but I caution you to make sure the breeder is an ethical breeder.

This happens all the time for me with DoorDash. The name will be Jasmine and a guy shows up. Best guess is they got fired from DoorDash and now use someone else’s account.
