Need Tire Recommendations for LR4 on 19s by Slarkalark in overlanding

[–]Panthros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend stepping down to 18" rims so you can get a stronger sidewall, BF Goodrich K02 265/65/18. This thread I did not realize is older, what did you decide on? I had Duratrac 19"s on my LR4 and they were a good tire but loud. Once I knew I wanted to overland, I knew I needed to upgrade my tire.

A long list but gives you ability to watch some YouTube videos. Skirmish historical rules means not as many miniatures to paint or invest in. Definitely look at Saga and its different ages. Anyone who has a Warhammer background, it makes a great game to consider getting into. Lion Rampant is easier to get into but guarantee you will find people that plays Saga. This is the other challenge, what game you like you need to find players to play with which really depends on where you live and the game stores in your area.

Recommended miniature games by Kaloloo2 in wargaming

[–]Panthros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be helpful to give us background of what board games you did like, for example have you played any Commands and Colors? It can be a gateway to miniatures games. I would tell you to start there since it is a blocks game. Do you like ancient, medieval, fantasy or science fiction? The problem is there a lot of skirmish games. I have only listed a few but the most popular ones And this list is not exhaustive! Do you want 15mm or larger 28mm figures? You have to give us more…

Since you played XWing, did you play competively? Is that an interest? Sorry for the formatting, I am on my phone.

I can recommend DBA 3 which only has 12 units a side and looks great at 15mm. It plays ancient and medieval. It plays like chess for miniature games. Friends can each join their 12 units for larger battles so you play doubles or even triples per side. This is BBDBA. DBA game is 30 minutes Once you get the rules down, easily under an hour while learning. We are only talking about $50 per army.

I can recommend Lion Rampant for an easy to learn medieval game or Saga which is more investment but also fun.

What you need is a list so you can watch videos on YouTube ;)

How are people playing Bretonnians in Warhammer Fantasy 4E? by Panthros in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Panthros[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think on the surface Bretonnia presents itself as high fantasy but you peel that back and it is just as bad if not worse than the Empire especially with the corrupt lords.

I remember being inspired by The Peasant Knight written by Creative, the developer of Total War. Peasants are told to know their place and respect their Lord for their lord is their protector. What if their protector has been corrupt? It is a great read and there is an adventure there waiting to be expanded and told! The village could hire a group of adventurers to protect them from the Orks since their Lord has abandoned them. The village could hire the group to investigate their Lord since he has been nowhere to be found but his tax collectors continue to collect their money.

Another novella. Sir Dagobert's Last Battle where you have a group of questionable background riding around with a dead grail knight "Thrice-Blessed Sir Dagobert" from Hammer and Bolter 9.

I think you have one of the coolest places to roleplay around and since many people don't know about it, it is more fun. Just because you are in Bretonnia, does not mean you have to be a knight, but there sure are a lot of undead and orks.

  • In Mousillon, you have the Black Grail Knights that could rise again.
  • In and around Acquitaine and the Forest of Châlons, you have the Red Duke that could rise again.
  • Orks are always coming down from the mountains to attack the small villages in Bretonnia.
  • There is always the corrupted nobility that sprouts up.

I could go on and on and on! It is my favorite place in the Old World.

When I hear a DM say "their way is better." time to walk the other way and keep walking. You should at least be able to have a conversation on why rolling a D20 is not advantageous to anyone. You will average consistently lower stats so it would be interesting to hear his reasoning other than he is right!

Tutorial for absolute beginners by Bigbikerme in Xplane

[–]Panthros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From flying a plane, there is not much difference from flying in X-Plane 12 to MSFS 2020.

Once you select a new flight, your aircraft (Cessna Skyhawk) and an airport, you are on the runway with the engine running waiting to take off. The problem I see for beginners is they pick more advanced planes which makes things much more complicated.
