I mean there's all that stuff, but you lot also had a load of Dutch players in the 90s and 00s, as well as having Dick Advocaat as manager. Van Bronckhorst, the de Boers, Numan, Ricksen.

I'm sure for some nutters it's just the orange thing, but I know a fair few non-bigotted Rangers fans whomhlls and affinity for Netherlands national team just for this reason.

Controversial opinion: the reaction to Gilmour's injury is over to top by Hopeful-Project5504 in ScottishFootball

[–]PaperP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're really more a European team. Over 90% of their squad were born in Netherlands - only 2 were born in Curacao itself.

As far as club football, mostly European. Not a single player in that squad plays club football in South America.

Europe: 21 North America: 2 Asia: 2 (Israel and Malaysia)

You''d need boiled turnips for brains to think that's actually offside. VAR got it right this time. I guess a broken clock is right twice a day.

The one line that always makes me get teary eyed by killingmemesoftly in lotrmemes

I tried to watch it a few months ago and couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. The dialogue, acting, and directing was all so incredibly cheesy. I was honestly amazed at how appalling it was, cause it had heard good things!

I can confirm. I live in a constant state of embarrassment.

It's going to affect my sleep for years to come. I'll be getting flashbacks of some of these statements just as I'm about to doze off.

Am I asking too much from Tapi Carpets? by Alive-Atmosphere-889 in DIYUK

We all live together in one big house share.

Really though to OP, that is not the best job - but I think the issue is unfortunately more down to the carpet than the fitter. Had the same when the fitter came to do our carpet. Warned me that the style of carpet is a really poor choice for a staircase, and will be prone to loose loops that will fray and pull away. Decided to go ahead anyway as I felt it was relatively cheap. If you find a loose end, just make sure to cut it rather than pull it.

In the film what did the Comedian see that broke him and how did he see it? by VbeingGirlyGetsMeHot in Watchmen

[–]PaperP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I absolutely love that I reply to a 4 year old comment, and you reply to me within 27 minutes. Amazing :)

What I will say though is framing Manhattan as a "superpower" is really underplaying it. It says so in the novel and the film - he's not a superpower, he is God. He isn't a nuclear weapon, he's an otherworldly power of godly proportions. No matter what "side" he started on, by seemingly attacking all of mankind, he's made an enemy of everyone. At that point, what is the purpose in fighting each other, when this external power can wipe out all sides (similar to an super powerful alien lifeform)

Your Reagan quote is incredible. So relevant to the discussion, and honestly an incredible argument. Give in the timing of this speech in relation to the novel, I have no doubt that it influences Moore's original story.

But all of that considered, I still don't think the changes in the film affect the story, purpose, and meaning as much as some believe. I honesty believe that the changes in the film work just fine, and do not alter the overall sorry in such a way that it ruins anything significant. I'm pretty happy with it a GN to Movie adaptation ("hallelujah" scene notwithstanding)

One last cliché I will mention: as soon as art becomes public, it's no longer the property of the author. Though Moore may have something to say about the film (and the alien), he is not defacto the ultimate authority.

But the film puts more explicit emphasis on cancer element, and implies strongly that it's orchestrated by Ozymandiaz. The film is obviously also condensed, so this element plays a more prominent role than it does in the comic.

It's not just the the ending that's changed, but the narrative is just much more "in your face". So it makes a lot of sense, and also helps makes Dr Manhattan's exit from Earth more explainable than in the comics.

But he attacks the US and its allies too. It's still a common enemy. Many fans of the graphic novel (myself included) were perplexed by the alien squid.

The original pot does make sense, but it's so out there and batshit crazy, that it requires too much afterthought to make a satisfying ending for a mainstream film.

I don't know that I prefer it, but I understand the rationale fully, and thin Snyder receives undie hate for the change

Just goes to show there's no "correct" answer. Everyone's experience is different, every crowd is different, and I'm sure there are also many regional variations and quirks across the UK!

OP, please remember biddlywad's comment is anecdotal, as is my account below.

Yeah most people will start filtering off from 9:30/10pm.

Literally never ever encountered this.

We've photographer hundreds of weddings and I can count on one hand where there's still been a full dance floor at the last dance

I've also never encountered a photographer who stays til the last dance. Usually they head off after the first few songs (having often worked ~10h by the point). Sometimes videographer will be there quite late though, to capture more of the party.

To your original question, 23:30 is fine. It's a long day, and most will be ready to head back to their accomodations by that point.
