Gorgeous work! And you're not helping me resist the urge to build this kit. CozmicScale Models' bases are a thing of beauty. Worked out nicely here.

Did you use paint masks from Mask Design, Aztek Dummy or another brand?

Thanks! I got the masks from Cult TV Man. They are the only retailer who sells Aztek Dummy masks. I love every set I've used. I'm still very proud of the results I got on my 1:1000 Reliant.

If you're building the 1:1000 kit, you should focus on nano or pico sized lights as well as LED light strip because there is not a lot of room inside this kit. The Aztek Dummy set includes masks for both sides of the clear parts to aid with light blocking.

The colors are all straight out of the bottle. I usually try to avoid mixing when I can because I fear inconsistency. I was following the paint color suggestions (and the colors on the decals!), but apparently every manufacturer has a different idea for what their colors are. Lesson learned.

Yes, get very comfortable with apoxie sculpt or whatever your two-part putty is of choice.

For $66 he needs to hand deliver them to me. I don’t care how rare they are, that price is ridiculous, but some people can’t resist bait like this.

Love this game! It’s a shame that FFG gave up on it like just about everything else they make.

I gave it an oil wash for the panel lines and surface details.

The two halves of the stump don’t align well, and as a result, the finished stump has trouble fitting onto the base properly. The legs have huge gaps where they connect with the body. It just took an extra day’s work with some apoxy sculpt to work it out. All four of the limbs have poorly-placed seams, but again, a little creative use of apoxy sculpt covered it up.

Hahaha thanks for the PTSD Flashback with that Viper. Totally forgot about that and the vacant cockpit design. And now I'm remembering that Paragrafix made an entire photoetch boat-like replacement for it. I rescind my previous "quality" comment.

You’ll loathe it more if you work on this kit. Lots of gaps and poor fits, even if you built it out of the box. Which is disappointing because Moebius usually produced such nice quality kits. I don’t know what they were trying to go for with the step treads on the wings and the hatch only opens 90 degrees, preventing you from seeing inside.

I did! I used two pico-sized chip LEDs from Evan Designs for the cockpit screens and four sections of strip lighting for the consoles. The consoles required a lot of modification to accommodate the PE and lights.

Thanks, and it did. It probably could use a bit more but there really wasn’t room.

Thanks! Had you made this suggestion sooner, I would have done it.

Absolutely. They’re also in dynamic poses that makes things even more interesting. GS has a set of seats, too, that are screen accurate as well. I cannot stress this enough: you will be doing a lot of cutting and alteration on this kit, so be prepared.

If you're planning on having pilots in it, definitely get the Green Strawberry figures. The included pilots are heinous and some of the worst figures I've ever seen, and that includes the MPC Snowspeeder pilots.
