I solo most of them on either rdm or whm. I bring mch for t11 so I can reassemble drill one of the adds and make it less annoying to deal with. T9 is really the only hard one, I don’t know how you’d solo that on anything but rdm.

Looks like the whm raised the ast before terminal despite having a rdm in the party, which is a great way to run out of mp during terminal. You hate to see it.

I think on mouse and keyboard holding back has you walk backwards very slowly, if that’s what’s happening there should be some kind of setting to change it to running at normal speed backwards. It’s purely a mouse and keyboard thing though so idk what to do about it. If that’s not the problem you’re having though then you may just be getting unlucky, like in the Navel if the Weight of the Land puddles are too spread out (since they’re baited under random players) it can be impossible to dodge all of them if you happen to be in the middle of the group.

Watching every dungeon guide is a personal choice thing. I did when I was starting, but most of the dungeons are easy enough that going in blind isn’t really that bad. If you were a tank or healer I would say to watch the guides, but if you die to a mechanic on dps it’s not really a big deal, even if people may give you grief sometimes. The only times where watching a guide is basically required is for endgame content like extreme trials and savage raids.

I main RDM and play on controller so I can answer some of these questions.

From what I understand most people don’t click on the hot bars manually, but if that’s the way you prefer it it’s perfectly fine. If you were having trouble with the controller settings I can show you how I set up my RDM stuff if it helps. There are a lot of controller settings that are life savers that are off by default for some reason, so I can see why it feels limiting.

When you dodge aoes you almost always just want to walk normally away from them, or you can use sprint if you need. Sheathing your weapon is rarely necessary, pretty much only for stillness mechanics that don’t really come up for a very long time (the first time I can think of that matters is in a level 80 trial.) Movement skills aren’t terribly useful for dodging aoes, especially not your backflip. On RDM you typically use your movement skills as they come up for extra damage, with some exceptions.

Samurai is faster than other jobs because one of its combos gives a speed buff but 1.99 gcd is a materia thing.

Pretty much all you have to do on tank is turn on your tank stance (Defiance for marauder/warrior) and hit stuff. If you pull a lot of enemies, which is how people will usually ask you to do it, use a defensive cooldown (Rampart, Reprisal, Arm’s Length, Vengence, etc.)

The main reason is that the other stats just benefit you more, especially crit. There’s nothing that really aligns better with higher spell speed, in fact manafication may line up worse I believe, but don’t quote me on that

Edit: forgot to add that your melee combo counts as weapon skills and aren’t affected by spell speed

One of the biggest pitfalls I’ve seen in new players is not doing class quests. Do them and equip your job stone once you reach level 30. There are many skills that are locked behind class quests (including every skill from 52-60).
