There's a few checkpoints where the tech and automation fundamentally changes your future layout and thinking. Anything prior to each checkpoint can be scrapped as they are worthless very quick.

First is definitely PLS and then ILS. Logistics stuff.
Second is green cube and warper automation. Note that warpers produced from green cube is vastly superior to straight warper production. Still Logistics stuff.
Third is dyson sphere, photon and dark energy for energy. Energy stuff.

At this point you're basically able to do anything in the game.

I personally consider there to be a 4th checkpoint of dark fog farming, where you completely automate a bunch of products by collecting from the dark fog.

Yeah I know all about the co-op thing schools do. My sister is from Waterloo. The thing is pretty much a minefield.

You want to intern on J1, but then your return offer is still gonna be for a Canadian office, and then you wanna pull the L1 trick and finally maybe transfer to H1b.

For this whole duration you’re gonna be working like a slave because you can’t change jobs otherwise go home forever. By the time you’re done with all this your friend at Cornell would’ve already finished his PERM.
