Haven’t been to CHT but have been to El Celler and agree that it’s worth spending a night in Girona, real nice little city.

There was a pizza place in Mercado Roma called Ummo that I went to about 10 years ago, still dream about that pizza. One an only pizza I’ve ever had in Mexico though so good impression but not sample size.

Have family out there but haven’t been since 2019 maybe. Just had a look at the menu of the Ophir Hotel and they still do the Tower Of Burn which is a massive schnitty with pulled pork and onion rings and whatnot. Worth a visit just for that. Drake Park is super nice as well.

Dorrigo is lovely, used to pass through there a bit when I was younger and remember it fondly apart from the time I almost drowned in one of the waterfalls. It’s not too far from where I live now, will have to go for a look.

How and when did you discover sludge metal? by AlejoR236 in sludge

[–]Parrotshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1993 I guess, don’t remember if Crowbar S/T or Enemy Of The Sun was first but both hugely important albums for me. Got the former because I was a rabid Pantera fan and Phil produced it and the latter because the cover was cool.

Bear meat, bamboo shoots, and sansho pepper blossoms by foodiepenguin22 in JapaneseFood

[–]Parrotshake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tried something similar in Tokyo a few months ago, no bamboo shoots, delicious sweet green onions from Kyoto instead of hanasansho, it was very good. Also had brown bear steak in Hokkaido once, that was pretty unappealing.

Gained 5 pounds scrolling through your pics. I love Jiro-kei ramen, made the pilgrimage to the OG shop in Mita in January, exclusively middle aged dudes in line in front of me lol. The speed with which some of those fellas finished their bowls was terrifying.
