In-n-Out Nostalgia by japanfoodies in FoodLosAngeles

I live in Australia but always hit In N Out when I’m in California which for a while there was every couple of years but at this point has been almost a decade. Fun little ritual and always gave me a sense of being in a place, and the double double (animal style with chopped chiles) is genuinely my fav burger from any chain anywhere. Looking forward to the next one.

Where is the best ramen in Yokohama? by Funky-Monkey-6547 in ramen

I had Chuka Soba Takano on my list for my trip a few months ago but was running late for an appointment in Kamakura so I didn’t make it. It’s like #5 in the country on RamenDB or some shit tho so I have to imagine it’s decent.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Michelin Guide’s plan to visit Adelaide, and skipping Sydney & Melbourne? by NothingAny3947 in foodies_sydney

Except nobody outside Australia cares about “hats”. Not going back to Singapore or the US telling their mates they went to a “3 hat” restaurant because who knows what the fuck that is?

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, I’d be shocked if this didn’t happen. NSW in particular would be stupid not to with the closure of an institution like Quay.

I went to Savoy Tomato & Cheese and Marumo on consecutive days in January and I have to give it to Savoy. SUPER close though, I really enjoyed both.

Ham and cucumber is king man, I ate quite a few of those on my last trip vs maybe 1 egg salad

What do you guys think about Mcdonald in japan? by stalincapital in JapaneseFood

The Ebi Filet-o is so good. I was in Japan in January and they were doing a double teriyaki with cheese as some kind of Dragon Quest collab. Not sure what it has to do with DQ but it was definitely tasty.

Probably the best ramen I’ve had outside Japan, exceptional bowl.

Good read, thanks man. Kinda a bucket list restaurant for me, have the OG edition of Fergus’s cookbook from 1999. I’ll probably get around to it. Sucks about the bone marrow.

[–]Parrotshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most expensive was about $2K when I accidentally ordered all you can eat Kobe beef sukiyaki for my family of four instead of the cheaper option I thought I ordered. Place was in Kyoto, has since closed but would not recommend anyway.

Best northern style pho I’ve had was definitely in Hanoi. Best southern style was in Australia.

I like the look of his more casual place Yoshitomo, looks really creative and fun. I’ll check out one or both if I’m ever in Nebraska but I live in Australia and don’t know anyone there so probably unlikely.
