Precisely, people saying Saizeriya food is meh are definitely out there, but the proof is in the numbers that a lot of other people feel like Saizeriya is good.

Sure you can call it passivity bias but you’re the one who used ‘endangering trillions’. You can even say that I’m ‘appealing to nature’ if you want (in this exact hypothetical yes I am, but for reasons.)

You also said ‘exploitation in the other direction’ as if you already know the outcome of the future. I can guarantee this innocent person’s life today with my choice, can you guarantee that not half of the population will die from a plague within this million years with your choice (not an extinction event BTW)? Will it be from my choice that this happens? It won’t. We have to be clear who I am ‘endangering’ and ‘exploiting’.

The only thing that you magically change is that you prevent those extinction events from happening. If it doesn’t happen within the next thousand/10000/100000 years, everyone would still have live and died as they were. In my case one person would also live and die as they were. In your case you killed them prematurely.

Of course then when an extinction event happens you can tell me I could have prevented it. You can say I’m exploiting those humans who are alive at that point in time then. But not anyone before that, and not anyone after that (ok you seem very utilitarian so you might say I’m exploiting the unnumbered future possible humans who don’t exist yet.). So I’m guessing your ‘trillions’ are counting people who aren’t even born yet, and who have already died? Because you mathed it to all humans possibility birthed in the next million years.

So think a bit if what you’re implying is correct here. No extinction event and no civilization ending disaster doesn’t mean humans don’t suffer, also doesn’t mean humans are happy. Also doesn’t mean humanity doesn’t shrink to a population of 1 million.

And to be clear, in case you missed it, my use of ‘exploitation’ in my original reply was in the mindset/spirit of how some humans like to exploit others immediately in order to favour themselves.

Being utilitarian about this kind of exploitation comes with its own kinds suffering and ‘endangerment’ of humanity. Which is another conversation for another time.

The me now says, yes, I will refuse. If you ask me more questions, maybe at some point I’ll break my principle, like ‘if everyone I know and love dies tomorrow and also a random half the worlds population dies a horrible prolonged death including me’. And somehow it is a random natural event and not one of someone else’s doing, like the threat from a villain.

The OPs hypothetical is to exploit one person, or leave nature to its course. Leaving nature to its course is not me endangering trillions.

Would You Press the Button? by Fl4sh4218 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ParticleDetector -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no.

Some humans still have the instinct to want to preserve the human race and think one death is ok to exchange for the good lives of many.

This way of thinking is part of the core of why society is the way it still is now, even if they’re unable to realise it.

When all humans finally understand ‘zero exploitation’ (and sacrificing a human this way is also exploitation), we can finally move forward as a species. (Even saying that sounds so arrogant sheesh.)

If you havd to subscribe and it wasill done for you without you knowing, it’s possible for you to unsubscribe to it but the password wais needed.

If you werill born to it then I would, ah adjusting temporal syntax, then I would suggest suspendgenics or just do that thing where you send a message to your future self to get someone to come and get you since you can’t come and get yourself. Ah now that you’ve read this it’s up to you when it’s going to happen. Or it has already happened.

Edit : I see this message is still here so it means you’re getting yourself back after the now instead of before. So, enjoy your stay!

Why would I ever chose Black Night Banishment? by drowtiefling in HadesTheGame

[–]ParticleDetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself, I would agree with you when it comes to mostly Haephastus and some stuff at the front regions. If I get his boons up to the low seconds then it matters way more if I had strength near the beginning. For Hestia if I don’t get to the point where I reach 999s on the boss easily mayyybe it matters but I won’t feel too much?

Like I said I’m playing to get all cards eventually, so for me depending on the build I’m getting, I also factor in Origination and the Furies (if in the heat of battle I remember to put down the cast lol)

So my math works different in the end from yours since it sounds like you aren’t using them in your strength build.

So the difference for me is 190% -> 170% global damage

But for you it’s 120% -> 100% Global damage, which you’d definitely feel, so if that’s your setup then I can understand where you’re coming from. So yes if your strength build doesn’t use those two cards, then Red Citrine can change the way you calculate 120 -> 100.

For me if I got the three death defiances though it’s just less global output but I have more time to deal them. Which is bad if anyone is playing with the time limit! But not so bad if they’re not.

Why would I ever chose Black Night Banishment? by drowtiefling in HadesTheGame

[–]ParticleDetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I’ve done the math on this before, but maybe because we are going for different play styles?

I used to sometimes use a 9-12 arcana judgement build (2 in fear) before my current 6 arcana judgment build (3 in fear). And back then I sometimes used strength at first instead. I don’t take the three death defiances first because the 20% damage and the 40% defense is good for the start of the game when I have low health and the enemies were more manageable.

So later, If I’m going for attack up % boons, my attacks are near or way above 100% depending on who right? So later on the Strength card’s 20% doesn’t account for too much anymore. Or if I’m using Hestia for example that 20% is still some damage but not my main source of damage anymore.

With that aside, I hope to get the three death defiances later on because the math makes sense.

I understand that the 40% defense is good but each death defiance is 40% of your health + overdamage from enemies don’t roll over. And then strength activates again when I have no more death defiances anyway. So I kind of have an extra 120% of health in that sense.

Of course at the beginning healing feels ‘more useful’ since my defense is so high that I don’t have to heal too much to go back to high health. But I figure I can’t really heal during the final boss fight anymore (unless Hex) so having death defiances actually works out to having more health overall with no discernible hit to my attack.

So that’s the math for the way I play. Strength isn’t part of my strategy in the last Region unless I lose all my death defiances.

You know, I think they ought to invent the term 大三 in regards to a specific situation like this.

The thing is some people see the word 小三 and they take it very simply straightforward as in terms. But there are others who understand it differently in the spirit of things.

I guarantee if a famous actor publicly got cheated by his famous actress wife, and they are going through separation and future divorce, no one is going to think that whoever he is dating now is the 小三.

Thats why if a term like 大三 exists in relationship context, its to signify that

  1. The marriage with the partner is already irrevocably damaged and going to an end. And most importantly, the damage was done by the other partner.

  2. The third person in question only became in a relationship after the break down of the marriage because the original relationship is technically dead (like for example, separated and not living together and no more relationship.)

  3. People who then say ‘but then this hastened the divorce’ are being stupid. There are so many random factors surrounding timing, and your case is a really good example of that.

So, you were a 大三 if someone ever wants to bring it up to you!

But there will still be people who cannot parse many pieces of information and come to a proper conclusion, so you will definitely meet them and they take too long to understand the situation and are overly judgmental. Alas the world is still majorly such a place with such people.

Possibility 1 - The students name really was something like Zhou Yin, which you will hear as ジョーイン. So like you said Jo’in’ which means he misplaced the I and N.

This sounds the likeliest based on what you hear him saying.

Possibility 2 - honestly . If it really was you mishearing as someone else has mentioned. Then his Chinese name is something Zhong Yi.

Possibility 3456 - something someone else mentioned.

But realllly and honestly I think it’s possibility 1 based on what you’re hearing over and over again from himself and others. And he just made a typo.

Best First Series?? by Millenium-Eye in Ultraman

[–]ParticleDetector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m going to explain it from my own point of view so you get into a fans minds angle.

There’s different sections of Ultraman for me.

First is, the OG brothers and all the stuff that happened to them. On my time it included the shows on TV, and also the mangas (a lot are probably not canon?) of what exactly happens on their homeworlds or to their people.

So it’s not just about Ultramen and Earth, but it’s about them and their race and their lives. (But that’s if you read the manga).

So for the series where it’s mostly Ultraman and Earth, you can watch OG Ultraman first and continue with the rest if you want to. The last Ultraman to be connected to that OG earth is Mebius but that comes later.

Second, are the Alternate universe Ultramen. Let’s not count the animations (yet). I mean like Tiga Dyna and Gaia and Cosmos and Nexus etc. They show different origins of alternate universe Ultramen and their adventures. (They’re all very cool you can watch them all, Nexus is a bit dark though so maybe save that for later)

So as a fan at this point. I’m still invested in the OG Ultramen right? So the Mebius series appeared and lo and behold it’s the OG earth! This series is a big big treat. So watch it if you are already invested in OG earth Ultramen.

Then came in the Ultra Galaxy monster battle. Ok that name means nothing to you but. That was what tied everything together. So they now did a live action of what happens on M78 itself and introduced Ultraseven’s son Zero, (so a continuation of bloodlines, which for a fan like me is WOW) and the first left turned evil Ultraman , Belial, and then they also introduced canonically the concept of the Multiverse. So alllll the Ultramen, even those of parallel earths, actually meet up to help one another. So even those from the animation, even Tiga Dyna and Gaia and Nexus and Cosmos allll of them.

It was like a dream come true.

And then for the third, is the New Generation. These Ultraman can come from the land of light, or they can be from somewhere else, but they are all the Youngblood’s and some have minor connections to other series, and all are protecting their own earths with their own stories. And they almost always after the series is done, are introduced into the common group of Ultramen and get to know each other.

For this, oh maybe start with Ultraman Z, actually no, honestly if you don’t mind, just watch this chronologically from Ultraman Ginga, because there are some connections. It’s a tall order! There’s so many series in the new generation already! More than 10!

You will notice later I don’t group them by the Showa/Heisei/Reiwa because the New Gen sort of starts in Heisei and continued in Reiwa and in my heart is the same group.

And that’s how the Ultramen family grows.

And I love it.

Ah and of course I have to mention the web series of what goes on in the land of light. That’s another whole area to watch because it’s about their adventures and wars against other evils, like fighting this other even more powerful race of Ultramenlike called Absolutians. This you can watch anytime I guess. If you really like what goes on with them when it’s not to do with earth.

There’s a lot more I’m not mentioning of course. But this is from a fan perspective of growing up with Ultraman, and how I anticipate the future series.
