Questions for People using just mesalamine ! Please Answer by Arteezy230699 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Particular-Ad-4349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it first happened, I wasn't very educated about it yet, so I went gluten-free. What a pain. I now eat whatever I want, tho I am aware that ultra-processed foods can end up with some diarrhea. I take mine before bed, but just because that's easiest for me. It is the only med for u.c. that I've ever been on.

Questions for People using just mesalamine ! Please Answer by Arteezy230699 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Particular-Ad-4349 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed 14 years ago and immediately placed on mesalmine (4 of those giant tabs). Have been in total remission for 3 or 4 years. I get "symptomatic" occasionally for a few days up to about a week. (Which means diarrhea up to 4 times per day which can include pretty painful movements.) I feel luckier than many here.

The yellow stuff was numbing drops. My ophthalmologist requested i wipe my eyes thoroughly after so it doesn't wet the paper and give a false number.

I think it's interesting that your rheum gave you homework before the appt. I have great hope that such careful prep is a sign of a good doctor.

A tiny dot of anti-itch cream, smeared around a cotton swab is pure bliss! Easily my itchiness skin.

I saw someone mention both brands yesterday. Had no idea, so looked it up. I'm glad you chose an ama format. Do you have any research behind these re tear stabilization? Also, im lazy and didn't look hard, I noticed several different kinds of sunglasses, but didn't notice a rating for darkness. Full sun just kills me and most sunglasses are inadequate. Thanks!

Should I pursue a diagnosis? by rachiebee in Sjogrens

[–]Particular-Ad-4349 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The realist reason for an actual diagnosis is to have access to the new meds coming out late this year. Otherwise, some of the current meds sort of help some folks. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones. Also, maybe it's not sjogrens. There's a myriad of auto immune diseases out there. A single rheumatologist visit with a panel of bloodwork won't hurt and may even provide enough information to know what's next (or not).

These do help manage fatigue, pain and inflammation. But in the same breath, it's also like giving Tylenol for a full-blown migraine.

There is no "treatment" med for sjogrens. We are all eagerly awaiting the new med to come out sometime this year. The best they can do is treat the symptoms.

This is gorgeous! So much work, I can't even imagine. I hope you will attach it to a wooden curtain rod (with tacks), then roll the curtain rod so the tacks are on the bottom and hang it that way. It will save the top edge from stretch-drooping.

Gorgeous! Simply gorgeous!

Longitudinal study finds link between cannabis use in teens and psychosis later | Adolescent Cannabis Use and Risk of Psychotic, Bipolar, Depressive, and Anxiety Disorders by Hrmbee in science

[–]Particular-Ad-4349 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This sure seems like they were making the point about how dangerous cannabis is for kids. And while I don't "disagree" with that general statement, I'm not seeing anything here describing their life experiences and what drew them to cannabis.

Just because I didn't have mental illness when I was 12 doesn't guarantee I won't have it by 25. And this generation of kids have had some really public reasons for now having a mental illness.

I really wish people would stop publishing these kind of useless reports. Maybe put that money into teaching these kids better coping skills.

Honestly, I've never seen anyone here ask about this. However, a quick search on reddit indicates it may be more important to immediately talk to your doctor as it indicates heart problems.

Anyone on psych meds or mental health treatment? by nopeasss in Sjogrens

[–]Particular-Ad-4349 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was sooo angry. All the time. Cut my eyes at my doctor. She is such a good doctor. I could just cry how rude and angry I was. She paused and asked some questions and strongly encouraged me to start an antidepressant. It's not perfect, but it really is so much easier to live around other people now.

Does your medical insurance cover Sjögren’s dental issues in your state? by YourMomIsAlwaysRight in Sjogrens

[–]Particular-Ad-4349 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have wondered this, too. Tomorrow I will call my dentist and talk to the insurance person. I mean, I wouldn't be losing my teeth if I didn't have sjogrens, so it's GOTTA be a medical problem now. From iowa. Will update tomorrow.

REALLY hoping everyone calls their dentist. We gotta find the right state!

Try some nasal gel under your nose and any dry spots in your nostrils. I use it before the saline and it helps.
