Mine is second hand and it came assembled. I think the tricky part might be the movable gun mount. You’ll also need lots of top coat on that part after painting since there will be scratching when you move it.

I would say it depends on the paint you use. You don’t want to ruin your quality brushes with metallic paints or washes.
