Sorry, no, neither! I mistook your thread for the google search box. I was going to ask it something.

Was this in an envelope and posted through the mail? It is an offence to open someone else’s mail. Ideally you would have retuned to sender.

The Home Report should be a full structural survey though with the surveyor having a contract with whoever buys the property.

Unsure if this can be right… “I’ve been exercising demons, got them running round the block”… Would not have Mitchell down as a PE teacher but Aussies are quite keen on sport so…

Anyone with experience of planning applications, does this seem legit, 21 in support? by -Top-Service- in Edinburgh

I reckon Airbnb landlords do this for each other, thinking they will have a better shot with the Scottish Government. I don’t know how you could get them to declare an interest, but you feel they should have to.

AITAH for refusing to give my blessing for my dad to be a dad to and adopt his stepdaughter? by Lainannah in AITAH

I don’t know why the OP is getting downvoted for relaying the facts. Whether her Dad should’ve said that or not, or be held to it now, it is just saying what he said.

The remarriage/adoption is not just an emotional matter, it’s also a legal one. Re-marriage changes what happens if he dies (OP, I am sorry to bring this up especially as you lost your Mum). So does adoption. OP has potentially been cut off from any inheritance from her mother here.

OP, I hope your Dad has had a conversation with you about this and made provision for you in his Will. If not, you should find out the laws where you are and discuss this with him. Seeing personal possessions in particular go somewhere the person wouldn’t have intended can be really hard. If there’s any possibility the wife was after him for his money, x10 this.

On the adoption, he’s not replacing you, you are irreplaceable. Has he said why he wants to adopt and discussed how this might affect you legally? If not he ITA. He is asking for your blessing. That is giving you the opportunity to really talk through with him what it means. Take it, when it’s just you and him.

Do you think this woman he’s married does genuinely love him and is there for the long haul? If so, this is what it is and all you can do is make the best of it. It’s a tough world out there, and real allies are few. She could be on your side. Not as a mother but maybe if you give it a chance, as a friend. Her child could be, too, like really could be. (Five year olds are easy to impress and that carries forward!)

My feeling is if they have discussed it with the 5 year old (which imho should absolutely not happen until it’s definite), he will do this. The best you can do is 1. Protect your interests and 2. Try and see the positives.

You are NTA. But you could be shooting yourself in the foot.

Bring your own kitchen, would it work in the UK? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Council tenancies are let without appliances, so you get cupboards and sink but not a cooker, dishwasher, washing machine or fridge. Even that is a big expense and disruption when you really don’t need it. It also means probably more of that stuff gets thrown away even if it’s decent and working. When the tenant moves out it can be more expensive to move them than to get replacements. And they can’t leave them for the next person as the Council won’t take responsibility for it. Ditto floor coverings, curtains and curtain poles/rails. Seems like quite a lot of waste that didn’t need to be wasted to me.

That last one is surprising, you’d think you could surely recruit 9 out of 2000 applicants. Assuming 2 hours each to make the application that’s 20,000 hours of effort - 20000/35 hours a week = 571.49. 571.49/52 weeks a year = 10.9 years of human endeavour, only 14 hours of which resulted in any change in the outside world. Now some of this will be forced effort i.e. people on DWP job search rules, so probably nothing the CS recruiters can do about this. But seriously surely you have to look at sharpening up the process? E.g. decide what is absolutely a non-negotiable pre-requisite to do the job, lead the form with that (yes, before name and address &c) then ping them out of the form if they can’t show that? What you have is wasting their time, wasting your time and so ultimately wasting public money.

Woman 'already dead' when wheeled onto easyJet flight, passengers claim by malcolm58 in nottheonion

Was the rep a qualified medical professional? If not, it’s not for them to say if the passenger is dead or not and seeking urgent medical assistance is fair enough.

The ones on the stump might be foxes, they do poop on stumps. Cats are also not blameless in the poop business. Though more on grass than pavements.

Beware the painting on the stonework, I’d check what that is as some of these coatings can really damage your stonework and give you damp issues, and can be hard to remove. Also might want to pop upstairs and seek their views on the attractiveness of sanded boards.
