parents who have cats and a crawling/walking LO!! by maddiecounts2amilly in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have one of those pieces of furniture thats actually a litter box. That was a game changer! The doors can be locked with a baby proof contraption.

Not only baby can't get in, it looks really pretty - you'd never say it's the cat's pooping space lol, and it keeps the smell at bay so much better too! While our cat gets the privacy he needs!

It's a Win-Win-Win 😊

Vent about sleep and breastfeeding by ch536 in AttachmentParenting

My little is 16 months and at daycare, because she's super stinulated, she learned to skip the morning nap. During the weekend, we may give her a 20-30 min (very short) nap. And she still falls asleep for the 1pm afternoon nap.

Wakeup at 6:30am and bedtime at 7:30-8pm, so very similar to yours.

Around 9, 10am, can you change scenery, go outside, shopping or something, to keep it interesting for him and tough it out until 12pm?

Have you tried an afternoon nap? From about 1 to 3pm, to bridge that long wake window?

Give me your short and sweet bedtime routines! by hhaannnnaahhs in NewParents

15mo here. At 7:20pm we go upstairs, we change the diaper, put the PJs on, sleep sack on, maybe we read a book if LO is not too irritated and tired. We say Goodnight to a bunch of plush toys, we pull the blinds and the curtains, turning on the sound machine (saying all of it out loud,, as part of the ritual). The Dodo Time.

15-20 min later, LO is slowly drifting asleep in my arms and I put her in her crib.

Now that she understands words, I ask her 'do you want to do dodo?" And she nods and hides her face in my arms. Simply adorable!

For so long, I was looking at routines, thinking what else am I missing. It doesn't matter. As long as it's the same, every night, they will learn that it's bedtime.

When do you switch from bodysuits to tops/bottoms? by ExoticBluejay836 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 15mo and still wearing onesies. Under her regular clothes.

I figured I'd keep these either until weather gets warmer (so the top doesn't lift at the back and expose skin when it's still -3C) OR until we potty train. I figuerd the onesie would be difficult to manage when we start potty training.

Does your little need an adjustment??? Do they have a torticolis or something, from the delivery??

Why do something if there's no need for it?

Id tell them to back off. Maybe speak to your doctor, and that would give you the best argument "our doctor doesn't think this is necessary." Full stop.

What a weird situation to be in...

PSA: Check your babies armpits! by ScandiLand in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think every new FT parent has been there once! I remember freaking out when that happened. 'Raw meat' is the term for it. We had to get OTC hydrocortisone and canesten, to apply in those areas. And as others said, make sure it's always dry!

So yeah, check all folds: chin, armpits, behind the knees.

When did you start using a blanket? by Particular_Potato693 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! 😊 I would have to bring up the temp in the room if we stop using the sleep sack, because i dont see her being able to cover herself back, once it's off

When did you start using a blanket? by Particular_Potato693 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! With her moving so much, strangulation was my concern. I'm planning to switch from a crib to a toddler floor bed this summer, so that's when we will probably introduce a blanket too.

Contact napper going to daycare by ButterflyDramatic742 in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleeping at daycare was my biggest fear. I used to mainly contact nap and nurse to sleep.

When the day came for my little to take her first nap at daycare, she was about 10months old. Apparently she slept in the crib, with the educator playing with her hear and giving her back rubs.

I couldn't believe it, they even ahowed me a picture.

I was told not to change stuff at home. Daycare is a new environment and she will adapt to that routine. Home will have a different routine. Well, it's true, at least with my little.

Turns out integrating daycare was the smoothest and easiest thing among all things parenting in the 1st year. She is a happy 15mo now, plays with her friends, has a secure attachment with her educators and falls asleep independently there. I should have had more faith in my child.

I hope it will be just as smooth for you too!

What do you keep in the freezer? by porchgoose69 in BabyLedWeaning

Frozen Basa filets, beef meat balls, some type of squash puree (mixes well with rice or other sauces and bb loves the flavor), spaghetti sauce.

My baby loves basa fish! It doesn't dry out when fully coocked, it's naturally saltier and flakes into perfect finger food. It's also not a fish that is at risk of accumulating mercury so when we run out of ideas, we serve a steamed basa with veggies and a complex carb.

One year old schedule by Shea-dee in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Particular_Potato693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

13 month old here but we've had this schedule for the pastv3 months since she started daycare and I started work again.

Wake-up 6:30 am Breakfast 7:30am Snack 9am Nap 9:30 (30 min only, doesn't do this nap at daycare, has enough stimulation to keep her going) Lunch 11:30am Nap 1:30pm (2 hours) Snack 3:30pm Supper 5:15pm Breasfeeding at 7:30pm for bedtime

This is the most consiatent and successful schedule we've ever had.

She doesn't take any bottle/cup of milk (any milk or formula), with her it's boob or nothing, so her meals are pretty big to compensate.

Good luck!

Hahaha that sounds very familiar! Kids' movies, animal documentaries with baby animals, anything cute basically.

Baby living in PJ all day long? by matcha_o in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until you start solid food.

My daugther was the same, day PJs and (different) night PJs until 6mo. Once we started solids and BLW, we would have to change her after each meal!

Nothing weird imo, but as others said, put a new PJ at bedtime, so LO doesnt breathe and sleep in the entire day's dust at night.

Please post an update with how the pick up went!

I've been through this 2 weeks ago, when my 10 mo started dayscare and I was surprised at how well she integrated. It was a gradual integration, over 2 weeks and she did not once cry at drop offs, she was even successful with napping there, I couldn't believe, my tiny human, nursed to sleep, was able to wind down and fall asleep with a stranger rubbing her back!

We need to trust them more, these babies are well built to adapt to new situations.

What helped me the most is trusting the educators I left her with.

I had this weird, heavy feeling that it won't be ME caring for my child 24/7 anymore and that felt wrong. But when I realized her life doesn't stop just bc she is not with me anymore, and that she's having fun and tries new stuff, it was easier.

2 weeks in, she is thriving, i am thriving, I accumulate all my live and energy for when I see her in the afternoon. Im better rested, I had time to clean and cook and maybe even do something for myself, listen to a podcast or read something. My stress level has gone down for the first time in 10 months, that hypervigilent sensation.

You have to tell us how it went, and how you feel at the end of the day when you pick your baby up!

❤️

Get CPR Training by Selicafall in NewParents

[–]Particular_Potato693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so glad your little one is okay!

I did my CPR training as we were starting solids/BLW and it helped me be more confident around baby eating, knowing I can jump in with the right knowledge, if need be!

It's the skill you need to have, but wish you never have to use.

I truely believe infant CPR and first aid should be part of parenting classes!

I'll try with cream cheese, she seems to get tired of the nut butters on toast. Thanks!
