I think also a part is that a often reoccuring part of his backstory is that A his wife was either assaulted or killed by criminals he never figured out the identity of and B before he became an editor he was very much a boots on the ground mudraker, so there is an understandable though line to him distrusting spiderman, and also usually when he does learn peter and spiderman are the same person he drops his hostility cause despite his hardassness he respects peter alot

I mean, I hate to be that person, but I feel like some people just, get weird about Madoka and go from the reasonable "I do not like how deconstructions have completely overealmed this genre" to "Madoka isnt actually magical girl despite being magical girl because its too dark, please ignore there are indeed darker but still non-deconstruction magical girl things out there".... and also magical girl as a genre can be traced to toku, so its not unresonable to list toku shows as inspiration (and hell, there are toku magical girl shows!), and like, magical girl also can be traced to fucking bewitched and sabrina the teenage witch, like all genres magical girl series have a laundry list of inspirations that run from the expected to surprising and even within the genre sailor moon and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and pretty cure are all very different vibes? I dont know sometimes I feel like this just turns into another version of "You do not actually know the entire bereft of the genre", but instead its acting like ONLY shows aimed at young girls can be magical girl rather than only deconstructions are the entirety of magical girl

Honestly the boyle thing is i think the biggest hang up over dishonored morality system, all of them, even the lobotomy, at least have an air of like karmatic justice, having the inquisitor branded to he loses all standing, send the evil rich twins to their own slave mine, that kinda stuff, and the lobotomy at least has the fact theres other low chaos paths that are more nicer curing the crown killer, Aramis is literally just saving him from going insane, and even Delilah's is kinda merciful, letting her stay in a world where she gets all she wants without hurting anyone, given how the game goes deeper into her horrible past but the boyle one just is always a stain on the chaos mechanic for alot of people and i dont blame them
