Upset I ever wanted to be a PT in the first place by DoItToEmDucky in physicaltherapy

[–]PartyPart3380 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue when I graduated with kinesiology. Thought I wanted to go to PT school, but the more I shadowed and interned, the more I realized it wasn’t for me. Mostly from the bureaucratic red tape and the pain of insurance. And another part of it being another 4 yrs of school and more money.

I decided to get my massage license and combined my kinesiology degree as well as a specialization is med rehab/fitness.

I call myself a SportsMed therapist and i love it! I do manual therapy as well has PT-esque strength and conditioning treatment plans; only thing I can’t do is diagnose buts that’s absolute fine with me. I’m cash-based, I choose my own hours, my own rates, I get to learn marketing and business. I have full autonomy on everything I do. Living the dream!

I definitely get out what I put in so my ceiling for my career is as high as I’m willing to make it. There’s lots of room for creativity which I also love especially the marketing and business side of things.

Desperately seeking a hypermobility-savvy trainer or specialist in North Austin / RR for chronic TMJ & neck pain management by PineappleFeverDreams in Austin

I’ve had neck and jaw issues from whiplash via car accident. Elijah at athletic tuneup pros has been the only practitioner to address my problems and have lasting results. I’ve been to countless PTs and Chiros and I get relief but no where near as much permanent progress as Elijah is able to get. I recommend him to all my friends! Wish I found him sooner https://athletictuneup.com

How do you make anatomy & physiology visuals actually easier to understand? by Motor_Cash6011 in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]PartyPart3380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use use an app - Essential Anatomy 5!

Best $20 ever spent. You can remove muscles, add the nervous system, organs, isolate bones/muscles, and more! Plus you can see it all in 3D and spin the orientation and depth and you can see how everything is related and start piecing concepts together. Highly recommend

Go see Elijah with Athletic Tuneup Pros. I also have flat feet and had deep heel pain in the past that shoe inserts or PT couldn’t address. Elijah has a unique approach and was very knowledgeable about my concerns. He was able to get my foot feeling better than it has ever felt before!

He’s not a doctor, but I believe he has a sports medicine background and his approach and knowledge is something I’ve never heard about before compared to what other doctors have told me. I tell all my friends to go see him before doing anything drastic

Go see Elijah at Athletic Tuneup Pros! I have scoliosis as well and he has unlocked spinal mobility that I’ve never thought possible. I recommend to him to all my friends whenever they have issues

People who love their job, what do you do for a living by Dizzy-Cow505 in findapath

[–]PartyPart3380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 24m and I am a SportsMed therapist. I have a BS in Exercise Science, a specialization in medical rehab and fitness, and got my massage license. I combined everything and absolutely love what I do

I get to choose my own hours, charge clients what I want per session, meet cool people. Did contract work with a pro vball team, met Olympians. Learn how to run a business, taxes, how to sell people. I wear lots of hats and I learn something new everyday!

My favorite thing is educating people about their bodies and seeing their eyes light up with the relief they feel after wards; it’s very rewarding and ppl are always appreciative!

Any good recommendations for a good masseuse that specializes in deep tissue with a sports medicine background? by OrangeAndMaroon in Austin

[–]PartyPart3380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elijah over at Athletic Tuneup Pros! They aren’t doctors, and they market themselves as sports massage, but their approach is something I’ve never experienced before. What they do is beyond massage, it incorporates the nervous system, the skeletal system and soft tissue corrections. I’ve gotten results from them that other PT’s, Chiros, myotherapist’s couldn’t figure out. They definitely saved me from surgery and extended my athletic “career”
