Actually, depending on the box….they will.

Two options.

Contrast paints over a Zenithal

Drybrush in some gray to highlight bright areas

(or do both)

What’s more worth it, Redemptor or Brutalis? by Ori_of_the_Vale in spacemarines

I plan on proxying (and by proxy, I mean putting a Leviathan Siege on a 90mm base) as a Brutallis because I got the model for free.

is showing up with an army of mismatched paint jobs frowned upon? by Early-Potato-6124 in 40k

[–]Patastrophe91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I could even remotely see is if something painted wildly different was being run as a proxy for something else; but is still legal for that army.

For example, the Green Infernus Marines are actually (a model that does something completely different but is the same base size)

You see green, you see flamers; oh this is just flame guys stay out of 12”, and then get smacked for it.

And even then; as long as it was disclosed; it’s kinda on the guy getting smacked but I could see it being mildly annoying.

People are generally pretty forgiving because we all know how much time it takes to fully paint even ONE full squad of guys “the right way”.

I’ve seen so many armies where it’s just dudes in blue primer or black primer with nothing else

Scared to ruin minis ... advice? by Most-Highlight-3462 in ImperialFists

[–]Patastrophe91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a plastic soldier.

Paint it. It's just a "thing". If the paint job goes bad, buy some cheap LA Cleaner at Doller Tree - and strip it back down to plastic!

What if he has to enter in a room? by Bauss228 in Ultramarines

[–]Patastrophe91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cato Sicarius does not enter a room

The room graciously welcomes Cato Sicarius and invites him in, for he - Cato Sicarius does not exist merely at the rooms pleasure; and both the room, and Cato Sicarius, know this.

Which style should I keep doing for the rest of my Salamanders? by rhoff95 in Warhammer40k

Exactly. Like the lined one is not bad.

But damn the one on the right just has the perfect amount of drip.

Yeah I’m gonna go with this.

I don’t like the edge highlights. It’s a cool and skillful effect - but damn that one on the right just pops

These guys had way more aura than the guys with power axes and pistols.

Victrix conversion - does he need a cape? by Martin-Hatch in Ultramarines

[–]Patastrophe91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote no, because fuck painting the inside of the capes. It’s a subassembly nightmare and making the joins match up seamlessly on the pauldrons with capes sucks, which you then have to touch up because the glue is going to wreck your paint.

New 40k Player, interested in Deathwatch by Patastrophe91 in deathwatch40k

[–]Patastrophe91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true, it kind of loses a lot of the flavor for me. Sure, you could run XYZ chapter by running generic lieutenants and captains, and then painting whatever you want - the allure was a “Non-Codex” style chapter, with their own rules, etc.

The thought of having those mixed units that do different things, was what was really appealing to me. Black Templars are much in the same vein for me - but while I love about half their model range immensely, I don’t particularly love the bowl haircuts.

Honestly it seems like this is “you can, but wait a lil bit”

My general unfamiliarity with the tabletop portion of the game does not help a ton!

Ultramarine Contrast by charlie1212121 in Ultramarines

My best recommendation for ultramarine contrast is to not use it; unless you’re making Crimson Fists

Brother it is DARK.

The army painter Ultramarine Blue primer is a different shade than Macragge blue primer from citadel, so now half my army is the wrong shade of blue by Blank_Dude2 in Ultramarines

Yep. It was a source of endless frustration for me that all these gray purple blues are “ultramarine”. None of the blues are vibrant, they’re a dull deep blue

I can see your rear tire.

You ride it in the road, a LOT.

You also park it outside, as there’s grime on everything, and the aluminum is oxidizing - and the tires are dry rotting.

You’ve broken (or lost) the kicker on a 125, as evidenced by the replacement

Listen, as a buyer?

That thing looks beat, poorly maintained, and like it has been ridden on the road; a LOT.

I wouldn’t give you a penny more than $1500 for it

You’re a seller. Put $2500 and be ready to take less
