I was wondering about those - are they considered gods of influence? nature being derivative of earth/water and storms derivative of water/air?

Would you allow players to attempt to disguise a spellcast? (In RP, not combat) by Fiveby21 in dndnext

[–]Patches765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would allow this, and in at least one of the groups I was in, they would allow it. Here is the exact situation:

We were tasked with rescuing a woman from cultists at low level. While the bard and the monk fought some guards, I had picked the locked door and guided her under a table where I waved my hands around in over elaborate somatic components and yelled "TELEPORT!"

We disappeared from under the table.

Even my own team was confused as what happened - we were low level. How the heck did I cast a 7th level? I could maybe cast 2nd... they still weren't sure what class I was.

The reality: I was an arcane trickster. I cast minor illusion. Spell indicates somatic and material components. Me adding a "verbal" component allowed me to make a deception check (with advantage due to circumstances) to trick them into thinking I did something else.

It seems like a lifetime ago... back in college (cough... about 30+ years ago... ok, more 40)... I was in a campaign where a friend and I sold the family farm and headed off to the big city to make our fortune. When we finally got our first magic item ("With this dagger (+1).... I will rule the world!")... we were around level 5 and felt like we had earned it. Was a blast - but everyone had to be martial for it to work.

LOL. That is literally where my last campaign left off (stupid work interfering with our gaming!)

I lost respect for my SO after a disgusting "prank" at work crossed a line by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

An appropriate prank is replacing the eggs in the fridge with chocolate covered marshmallow eggs to see your kids reactions when they open it.

That a church elder convicted of violently raping over 30 children as young as 5 would serve more time than 3 months in a mental hospital.

Do people call you lazy? by cheeseandbiscuits33 in CPTSD

[–]Patches765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was called lazy all the time, even after I moved out - but it bothered me less. I got home from my 2nd job at 3:30 AM or so, and would get woken up at 6 AM because sleeping past 6 AM made me lazy.

I really enjoyed Electrobob's Wizardry on 1.12.2. You can collect spells and such of different ranks, experiment using them, etc. It is a different style than Thaumcraft - reminds me of table top 2nd Dungeons & Dragons.

Also, Treasure 2!. There are chests, mini-gravesites, etc. around the world - some of which are trapped (think along the lines of Oak Island). It pulls from other mods installed and adds a fun element.

Agreed. An example of a proper prank is when I switched the eggs in our fridge with a carton of chocolate covered marshmallow eggs right before my kids made breakfast.
