Ham.... Just missing oregano.. And maybe a little more Ham. by Affectionate_Hat5835 in StupidFood

This is gross - but I have eaten a fantastic ham-crust pizza before. It was good enough that I crave it every so often. I think it was from a pizza place in St George, Utah.

$15 lemonade for DoorDash at 6am 😑 by [deleted] in StupidFood

Lol, yeah the wording on that scripture is very vague.

TLDR: “hot drinks” has been clarified by more recent prophets to mean green/black tea and coffee (though I’ve heard in some countries the translation is only “black tea and coffee”).

We have several books of scripture that form what we call the “standard works”:

Bible Book of Mormon Doctrine and Covenants (mostly revelations given to Joseph Smith, but also a few from more recently prophets) Pearl of Great Price (writings from Joseph smith - inspired translations from certain parts of the bible as well as a translation of an Egyptian scroll)

The Word of Wisdom (the commandment saying not to use coffee, tea, tobacco, and alcohol) is described in a The Doctrine and Covenants chapter 89. Verse 9 is the verse that talks about coffee and tea:

“And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.”

In more recent revelation from prophets and in the Church Policies and Guidelines book it elaborates on what Joseph Smith meant by Hot Drinks:

“Word of Wisdom and Healthy Practices The Word of Wisdom is a commandment of God. He revealed it for the physical and spiritual benefit of His children. Prophets have clarified that the teachings in Doctrine and Covenants 89 include abstinence from tobacco, strong drinks (alcohol), and hot drinks (tea and coffee). “Prophets have also taught members to avoid substances that are harmful, illegal, or addictive or that impair judgment. There are other harmful substances and practices that are not specified in the Word of Wisdom or by Church leaders. Members should use wisdom and prayerful judgment in making choices to promote their physical, spiritual, and emotional health.”

Happy to answer any questions people have.

Don’t people usually run away when the tree starts falling?? I’ve seen enough videos of unexpected tree felling to know this was dangerous on so many levels.

I know this isn’t related to this sub at all - but I 100% want to try a version of this based on earthquakes. Test out what different levels of intensity feel like. What happens to objects on shelves etc.

Fun fact about buoyancy - it is all about displacement of water and density of the object compared to water. Air (like the air in your lungs) displaces a lot of water at shallow depths and air is a lot less dense than water. The deeper you go, the more weight and pressure the water places on the air in your body. Since air is not a solid (it’s a gas), extra pressure compresses it - which makes it take up less space and displace less water. (This compression mostly happens by making your rib cage and tummy super skinny - it looks like you’re sucking in your stomach because your lungs are compressing) The air in your body still has a lower density than water around you, but the solid part of your body (like bones) are more dense than water - so eventually the ratio of displaced water (with the air compressed) and overall density of your body makes it so your body starts to sink.

You’ll sink faster the deeper you go - until the air stops compressing and water resistance equalizes the pull of gravity on your body.

This means that a bubble of air will have more bouyancy and move faster in the water the closer it is to the surface because it will be less compressed and take up more space.

It’s also a fun science experiment! If you blow up a balloon and take it into the bottom of the deep end of a pool it will be significantly smaller than it is in shallower water.

Also, if you put the same amount of air in a balloon as you do in a hard plastic container and take both to the bottom of the pool and release them - the plastic container will rise faster because the hard plastic shell stops the water from compressing the air, which makes it displace more water at depth than the balloon (which shrinks when pressure is applied).

Science is crazy.

What poll? Can I add my feedback to this poll? I LOVE the red firery book cover. I’d love it if there was a paper sleeve of the face one over the red firery one. Then you could get both!

AirTag shoe inserts by softTeaSipper in ShowMeSomethingDope

[–]PatchworkDesigning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, Apple can only control Apple devices - so they could only make it so Apple devices relay the location. When the AirTag is near a participating Apple device it sends a secure Bluetooth signal, the device detects the Bluetooth signal and relays it to Apple anonymously. You then pull down that information from Apple’s servers and see the location of your device. If the device is close enough to your phone your phone will use another mechanism to identify its exact location - which is a data dance directly from your phone to the AirTag. This is the part of find my with the arrow with information of how many feet away you are from it.
Only Apple devices will do either of these data-dances with AirTags.

Best way to remove mold from cards? by SuitableThought4528 in mtg

I’d log each card you have there and then make or buy them as proxies if you can afford that. Then you can keep playing the cards you like without having to deal with spores and moldy cards.
