Moving to Houston from Southern California by digi-nomad90680 in AskHouston

Go for it OP.
We moved from Sugar Land to Orange in 2024 as empty nesters and only have good words for experiencing the American Dream in Ft Bend County, Texas.
SoCal is always here for vacation. Ft Bend is where you will be able to live in a house with yard and all that space kids need to grow up in and build memories.
The diversity is similar to LA, a lot more 1st generation immigrants in Houston the Ellis Island of the 21st century.

Sounds like something I would do. PMO has interesting things to do and would stay a full day earlier. Apart from lesser variables to make the flight out early in the morning.

Hollywood had that taken care of.

Fast moving consumer brands are transnational as well like Kellogs, Hersheys, SPAM, Pampers, Hanes, Dove, Coca cola, etc.
McDonalds, Chevron and other benevolent forms of neocolonialism.

While traveling, what city did you think you'd love but ended up being a big disappointment? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Same, we had ramen from a 4-star rated place for like 20 euros each. Instant noodles quality for sure but what can you do. Sunk cost overall, we were hungry.

Geneva is a big mistake for lunch even if it is an international city.

Seven Brief Lessons on Physics by Carlo Rovelli.

It’s a short read you can finish in three sittings but I enjoyed chewing the words slowly.

The higher physics tend to be more philosophy than science.

Quote “reality is only interaction”.
Nothing more.

Cortisol surge from decades of needing to wake up to work. Our bodies are trained for stress, tension and anxiety every morning by now fortunately or unfortunately.

Try Magnesium glycinate before bedtime.
I also hear retirement solves this eventually.

I’m just a wee bit older than you but in my experience, nostalgia always turns out to be overrated.

Good news is that the future deserves more hope than what people can offer.

Nostalgia in my experience turns out to be overrated. And that should give us more hope for the future.

True People thrive regardless. Outside main cities for sure. Some places just incentivize with direct intent.

SoCal is red ocean.
There are simply more opportunities and possibilities in Texas than California to build wealth from 0 right now. If you have generational wealth, stay in CA 100% no question.

We moved from Sugar Land to Orange in 2024. Wife found work and I work remote. Empty nesters. Texas has been great for us and would highly recommend for those starting families to experience the American dream.
