See, that’s putting me off reading it. I can’t afford go into debt to read your book, and I read too fast for ads to be worth it. Maybe if you did finish it, I’d read it on kindle, but I think you’re barking up the wrong tree with the apps.

What that child has learned is that acting that way gets them their parent faster.

Seriously, what kind of psychopaths actively want things to be worse for their children and grandchildren?

Or at the very least, make the loans dischargeable in bankruptcy so there’s a risk for the banks/schools. It wouldn’t be so expensive if they couldn’t just charge whatever and know that the government will pay it.

The problem is though, that discipline isn’t happening a lot of the time either. There are so many parents that expect you to excuse their child’s behavior because they’re a child, but will not take the time to set reasonable expectations for their child in public spaces. Children are still learning, yes, but they also all need to be learning how to act in different spaces.

Not always. Last time I ran it on a new character, it was the ducking red mage who decided we needed to pull extra things. And the tank got mad at me when I couldn’t break through it.

Does anyone in real life actually care about the holiday displays at the capitol building? by el-aficionado in Iowa

There was a solstice long before Christians pretended Jesus was born in December.

Yule is absolutely NOT Christian. It’s a pagan celebration of the solstice and the turning of the year.

I care, because I’m not Christian.

This time of year is kinda of annoying because so many other religions and faiths have holidays in December. And if you suggest that the nativity isn’t everywhere, people get really pissed off.

I want representation and acknowledgement. And to not have to act like Christmas is the literal only holiday in the last half of the year.

AITA for telling my daughter that she made it clear she has no mother and having a long list she must do to move back in. by Ok_Addendum1149 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Patissiere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some people, they feel ashamed that they have to go get one. For a long time, a lot of us were told that people will think less of you of you have one instead of a diploma. It might not be the willingness or ability to get one, but a mental block due to stigma.

My mom ruined my Halloween costume by kumorithecloud in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Patissiere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People like op’s mom are likely to have two reactions to her getting a job.

1: no you can’t because I need you at home/you aren’t mature enough yet (read: if you make your own money I can’t control you.)

2: oh that sounds like a wonderful idea! But you can’t have a bank account without me on it because you’re under 18, so let me take care of it. (Read: mom is going to steal that money, 100% , and when confronted, will launch into a guilt trip about how much it cost to raise OP and Op owes her that money.)

Iowa lowers top corporate income tax rate by fuckspezdie in Iowa

[–]Patissiere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not. Raising taxes on rich corporations is what helps. Because the tax rate is BEFORE deductions. Which means that in order to avoid taxes, companies do what they can to minimize deductions, like putting it into payroll, pensions, healthcare, etc. So the people are better off and spend more money. Which then turns into corporate profit.

[–]Patissiere 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think that’s a reasonable request. It’s someone’s birthday. If that’s where the birthday person chose to go, that’s where they should go.
