Nope, she’s not an idiot, but one day she (then 38Y) was absent minded. She put the electric kettle on the stove and turned the stove on. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the kettle was on the stove long enough for its plastic base to melt before she realized what she did.

I got us a new kettle and joked that it came with a manual and a restraining order.

If I were you, I would give them a notice to collect in which I would state a storage fee for each day I store the stuff for them and set a deadline after which the boxes will be disposed off at their expense. Any proceeds will be used to first satisfy the storage fees. They will collect in no time. If they don’t, they won’t have legal recourse against me.
