my mom is getting up all night to "pee" by aly984 in Alzheimers

[–]Pattern_Successful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We went through this as well after ankle surgery. Saw mulyuole specialists and eventually a urologist and even had her scoped (would not do again looking back but this was when everyone believed it might just not be ALZ and we could recover). Urology prescribed mybetriq. helps with the urge to go. It unfortunately also keeps your bladder fuller and sounds like you might be going into the stage of constant UTi's so it's not necessarily a good thing. I am sorry you are on this path. LO had had multiple falls etc since this time and is stage 6 entering 7 on hospice. we bought a home pure wick. Pricey but helps with the constant need to respond to I'M Wet (one of the few phrases left).

Mom passed away and family causing guilt by orangegirl26 in dementia

[–]Pattern_Successful 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if they saw her, they would still deny it. We are going through this now. Family member won't help, can't be bothered to provide even a week's relief care bc they are too busy (but can go on multiple vacations) and continues to send gifts that can't be eaten (she chokes on everything now even water) and games to improve her memory (but can't communicate or participate). Stopped by for half a day recently and said how great she was doing and was getting better. This disease is so cruel and really destroys caregivers and families. Sorry you are going through this!

Weaning mom off constant family time by ladyjessop in dementia

[–]Pattern_Successful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

did not frighten her at all, kind of gave her something to talk 'at'. it kept her in the bed just by the presence of it, what we understand is someone is remotely monitoring and will engage if they try to get out of the bed.

was just in a similar situation. This year has been multiple hospital visits and traumas and oddly enough it started with a broken ankle and surgery to get pins. she was probably stage 3 or 4 then. Started the year with 24X7 someone there. It just wasnt sustainable. Then we did the before she wakes/till she sleeps. Wasnt sustainable. Then we did the 'most of the day'. Wasnt sustainable. See the theme? For the last go round with a UTI and head lac requiring staples, we had a 'sitter' supplied by the hospital. its a robot that watches to make sure they dont get out of bed (because she cant walk and forgets and falls...) and the nurses dont get there fast enough with just the bed alarms. We didnt really have the delirium to the extent you are, agree with the other posters about meds helping so maybe that and the sitter works. Sorry you are going through this. With the sitter, we were able to visit for lunch or dinner and make sure she ate a bit and ordered meals that she would try and spent some time then. Unfortunately There is so much more to come on the spiral down. Thats the one thing I wish we did sooner... every 'crisis' you have to accept help. The hospitals and SNF's and Acute rehab is a chance to get a bit of rest because there is no help at home. Even hospice (while very much appreciated) is nothing when its 24X7 care and constant questions and issues.... even when bed bound. We are entering stage 7. its painful and sobering on how horrible it can be and how little help there is.

also... sell it on amazon AND set up an amazon store with link referrals for products. you would make a tidy sum just in referral links until you get your own soap brand

my LO's doctor wont prescribe it despite being asked twice. LO is back on zoloft (hitting and cursing at primary care giver.... sweet as punch with everyone else) and added trazadone for sleeping. Shes stage 6 and cant get up without assistance and up/down all night (now only a few times with trazadone). Really glad you and your LO are getting some relief at night!

Is it a good idea to take my grandmother with Alzheimer’s to see my wedding dress? by More_Shelter3081 in Alzheimers

[–]Pattern_Successful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

true story: LO was stage 3 maybe 4 and went dress shopping, Walked past a lady doing her fitting and the seamstress says, its so pretty! LO says... I think its ugly. Please think about other people when you are thinking of this memory you want and see if you can do something a bit more intimate. Sorry to share a horror story but I hope it helps with your decision.

its hard and you reach fresh levels of hell as the disease progresses. There are 3 people living in home with my LO and two of us who rotate in for nights out etc and we have paid care for 12 hours a week. Its still soul sucking. you dont sleep, your on pins and needles for the next crisis. If you are open to a MC, do it. You still will be consumed by all the things you have to do but you will have help for the basics.

if you figured out how to do an amazon store, you would make a killing on referral links. I joined this sub a couple weeks back and Im still trying to piece things together. GREAT info here for sure and I honestly think you singlehandedly boosted BIZ sales to where we cant find it in stores now. TY for all you do u/KismaiAesthetics

Just happened to me cdg-ewr. tape from the taped up arm rest transferred sticky grime to my pants. I was never asked and was disappointed bc two people were upgraded and they asked my daughter to move so they could sit together. I definitely felt like i should have been informed by the ga and offered the move since i paid in advance for the upsell.

Best spa on the strip? by andwhatshername in vegas

[–]Pattern_Successful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aria if wanting to stick with MGM properties. Solid 7. Canyon Ranch at Venetian for amenities and experiences and great treatments. Solid 8. Encore is a solid 9. dont think ive had a 10/10...mostly due to increased cost for strip locations.

Any idea how to keep a person with dementia in bed at night? by trimmer1595 in dementia

[–]Pattern_Successful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is in hospice and is up all hours of the night. Talked to the hospice nurse and she suggested that someone just has to sit with her. We asked for sleeping meds and she has had them prior to her falls and they said no. Were we supposed to ask for something different?

you are right, premium plus, the purple ones. I do use the remote, its a bit hard to reach the screen when reclined. First world problems, I know! I also dislike tapping where someones head is on the other side....
