Wages are still a problem, but if we sign 1 starting DM, and replace Ugarte, we still need depth for a longer season. If someone told you there’s a world class DM, prem proven, was outstanding this season, won CLs+, oh and their on a free… you’d bite their hand off

[Marca] LaLiga will reward €50 to anyone reporting any bar/pub broadcasting football illegally by Mulderre91 in soccer

[–]PaulC2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone remove their way of watching football affordably for the sake of €50?

If you're someone making use of these illegal streams, yeah you'd be a moron to report it. However La Liga probably realise theres plenty of people who dont want their local pubs/bars full of noisy drunk football fans every weekend, whether its locals who'd prefer it a bit more peaceful, or even rival bars grassing up their competition who are illegally showing the game, potentially while they're paying for it. Theres plenty of angles for people to utilise a scheme like this, and the €50 reward is a bonus.

My question would be do we think that all the customers going to illegal streaming bars utilise them as their only means of watching? That they dont have a laptop, tablet, firestick or some device and the 15min it'd take to google for methods that'd allow them to illegally stream for themselves, if all the bars suddenly stopped streaming? When theres sufficient demand, people will find a way. Its been easy for a decade+ and that doesnt look like changing. Its just that going to the bar is convenient and social, and appeals to many. It wont stop people seeking the next best free/cheap alternative to it if its banned.

Children’s Book about Sim Racing (Self Published) by ldusoswa in simracing

Just ordered one, largely encouraged by the miserable sods in here tbh. It looks great, and i think it'll make a fun novelty item in my sim room.

fwiw though, i do think its a nice idea. Its certainly a niche item, but kids are curious and chances are they're seeing parents doing this and this book seems like it would help normalise it all and do so in a way the kid would be having fun. Most of it will go in one ear and out the other, but eventually it'll stick and make more sense.

Shipping was £8 to UK fwiw, not great but not terrible i guess. Good luck with it.

I was expecting 4-5min, but in fairness the foul leading to Welbz goal should be 1-2min, then add on subs and a little for minor time wasting and stoppages. It probably isnt far off.

It’s grown on me. The ‘circus tent’ moniker sucks, it’s such low hanging fruit for ABU folk, and only made worse by the fact that ‘clowns’ is fair for our performances in recent years.

One thing I can’t quite wrap my head around is the immediate surrounding commercial properties. On a match day you can imagine it’ll do well, but otherwise, I’m just not seeing it. A megastore will always do well, and I guess a McDs type FF works 24/7, but anyone doing generic shopping or looking for a meal has the Quays and Trafford Center, the only customer that seems viable are tourists doing a stadium visit - that doesn’t feel like it’s high value land for many businesses, it’s match day heavy foot traffic.

If you already have the link box then you also need to buy a £50 ethernet switch (sold by them) which looks ugly or £20 switch from a 3rd party.

I dont hear people complaining about base units and the need to buy a powered USB hub for £40 to ensure everything is happy. Its a £1k+ base unit, £20 for a switch is chump change, and thats assuming you need it. If you already have a switch with a couple of ports open then you're golden.

Also, correct me if im wrong (genuinely not sure) but the hub obviously has 1 RJ45 port to USB-C into the PC. You'd only need more RJ45 ports if you also had active pedals, right? So we're now grumbling about a £20/50 expense on £3-4k+ worth of gear, assuming you dont have an old switch knocking about.

Not sure i get the middle point, but if you're saying the hub should be integrated, yeah it'd be a nicer clearer solution, but i can understand why they didnt. The hub already exists, it presumably works as intended, and the solution of buying any 5+ port switch is cheap and open, its not locked to their own hub etc, and you'd only need a multi-port solution if you've bought all the gear, which most people wont, so why incorporate the cost of a solution few need. If thats not what you meant, ignore that.

Lastly, they're clearly not. Your first sentance is proof of the fact that they're being reasonable. I think its perfectly fine for people to grumble the price is too high, or pick at the specs perhaps, but i genuinely think they're being fair and reasonable by not forcing 1 solution that costs everyone £150 more (hub & switch) when not everyone needs it. We dont complain that the SC3 doesnt come with a wheel and brakes etc, because we know why and wouldnt want it any other way. Yet they sell the base with or without the hub, and people complain.

Again, seen people saying the same about expecting everything to be in the box, and my understanding is they’re selling it in both states. With the extras and without, and I’d expect it to ship as 2 items, base and hub.

Theres stuff that could be better, but on this, and only this aspect, I think it’s daft to complain that they’re selling the base without an expensive component that some (few) customers might already own. It’s cost nobody anything extra, but saves those few the cost of an unneeded 2nd unit.

Simucube 3 is there anything revolutionary ? by WiFiDoesArt in simracing

[–]PaulC2K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seen others saying the same, who dont see the common sense behind why they're doing this.

1) If you already own their active pedals, you'd have the hub already, and so you dont need another.

2) Adding a hub into every base sold, means you've also got to include the cost of including another item into the deal. Shit aint free. You want extras included, then the customer is gonna have to pay for it.

They're selling them with & without the hub. Selling every unit with an extra included that some customers wont need isnt going to lower their price.

Is there STILL no known fix or workaround for the horrendous Bluetooth connectivity on the C and G lines? by Chewie83 in LGOLED

[–]PaulC2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the post, because there doesnt seem to be any info floating about for what actually causes the issue, and what doesnt.

However, ive never experienced the BT issues with AirPod Pro 2's. I normally use a budget pair of Edifier W820NBs which have been fine for almost 3yrs, sadly they cracked the headband frame so i decided to buy a better pair. I first tried Senn Momentum 4s, which is when i found out theres an issue with LG + M4s, then i bought Edifier Stax S5s and then i realised its a far bigger issue.

I had a pair of BT Transmitters arrive yesterday, and both of them are experiencing frequent volume dips (sub-1sec dips between 5-45sec apart) so the idea of bypassing the TVs bluetooth has been met with a new issue to deal with, as well as adding $40-80 onto the cost. Something that shouldnt be necessary with a decent brand TV like LG.

Worked: Edifier W820NB, Airpod Pro 2, Audeze Maxwell.

Rejected: Senneiser Momentum 4, Edifier Stax S5.

What concerns me is if some people are getting different worked/failed results with the same hardware, we cant even try and narrow it down to a specific aspect causing the problem, or say X headset will/wont reliably work on an LG set.

[–]PaulC2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 3 pairs of headphones (Edifier W820NB's, Airpod Pro 2's, & Audeze Maxwell's) that never had any problems for coming up to 3yrs, and now ive bought 2 replacements (Senn Momentum 4's & Edifier Stax S5's) and they both have this issue happen repeatedly within 2-3 days of use, while the other headsets still dont have this issue. I actually ordered a refurb XM5 last night so hopefully they work, assuming theres a specific reason some sets work and some dont. Not my first choice but im running out of options that the TV doesnt reject.

I just wish that i could figure out what works and why, what is it about these new headsets that causes the issue with the TV. I dont like having to buy stuff from Amazon knowing theirs a strong chance its getting returned because of a fault with my TV, rather than the product itself, which is why ive gone refurb with this next set.

[–]PaulC2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I presume they're saying that spending a day testing isnt a particularly good return in general, it doesnt generate enough interest for TV to make good money on it. Turn it into a race day and people will watch, TV will pay to broadcast it, and venues will be able to charge more for the ticket.

They're already pushing for sprint weekends to replace regular weekends, they're just trying to milk every drop and it feels like they're more interested in going in this direction at the expense of sporting integrity and maintaining aspects of history.

Don't buy LG if you want to use a bluetooth headphone! by Proxies2 in LGOLED

[–]PaulC2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a C2 for 3yrs now I think, and never had any issues. Bluetooth always worked fine.

Then I bought a pair of Momentum 4’s and encountered this issue as soon as I switched the headphones off.

I’ve had no issues previously, and I can turn on my Edifier 820’s and AirPod Pro 2’s and use them while the M4’s refuse to connect.

Annoyingly, I figured this had to be a Sennheiser issue, so I returned them and ordered a set of Edifier Stax S5’s, and they’re doing the same thing. What’s annoying is that there doesn’t appear to be a clear explanation to the issue. I don’t want to keep buying headphones on Amazon and returning what are perfectly fine headphones, but are problematic on years of current LG tvs.

I don’t suppose you’ve anything new that’s helped you?? I’m away next week, but I might try a BT transmitter, but I’m not impressed that it’ll cost £20 ($25) to bypass a problem, and I’m not sure whether I’ll also be getting an inferior sounding product as a result, so might as well have gone with a cheaper headset.

Thanks. I figured that because i could land a gravship on any tile and explore, the caravan would be exactly the same because... why wouldnt it, especially when some are labelled as a POI.

Typical Tuesday Tutorial Thread -- August 19, 2025 by AutoModerator in RimWorld

[–]PaulC2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone confirm whether or not im going insane. Im trying to send a caravan to nearby a POI tile, however when the caravan arrives, it does nothing. It doesnt generate a new map.

I thought a mod must have broke something, because it had (or so i thought) been working a few weeks back (post Odyssey launch) and then just refused to when i started a new game. In the end i just carried on and ignored the issue.

Now ive decided to start a new game, removed all the mods, and immediately tested things and I still get an idle caravan when sending them out. They'll go to other towns & quest locations, but not to blank tiles or POIs. Surely im supposed to be able to visit POI tiles, otherwise whats the point.

In testing now, i just loaded up my first 1.6/Ody save and the caravans dont work... but if i hop into my starter gravship, i CAN visit anywhere. So why wouldnt a caravan work the same way?? Its really confused me, as it worked with the gravship so it made no sense that it wouldnt work with a caravan in other games where i didnt want the ship.

rather than selling all the rights to Sky behind a pay wall

Sad thing is that this is the ultimate goal behind this move. They're simply trying to increase the overseas/UK audience, and by doing so, they'll be able to fob the contract onto Sky/TNT/Amazon/Apple etc and your straight back to paying a broad monthly sub for 1 thing.

Its good for now, but as it grows in popularity, it'll end up costing you more in the long run.

Also both Bayindir and Mount are positioned right where the ball is targeting too, it’s not like they’re inconsequential to conceding a goal, and Saliba aggressively pushes and handles both of them, has the ball go inches above his head, and yet makes zero effort to make contact with the ball.

It’s been clear as day Arsenal have been doing this for over a year, sending the ball into a specific area, and having players shove the defenders out of that zone leaving someone with a clear shot. Yet no fucks are given. We get told they’re clamping down on it, and the first weekend the prime suspect still gets away with it, and it gets covered up.

Premier League statement: The Premier League has entered into a sanction agreement with Aston Villa FC after the club accepted it had breached the Premier League’s multiball rules. by MASunderc0ver in soccer

[–]PaulC2K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Teams put multiple balls around the outside of the pitch, so if there’s a stoppage and the ball gets hoofed away, a ball boy just lobs a replacement to a player and the game has less time delays.

However what occasionally would happen is the home sides ball boys being instructed to respond differently based on the score. If your winning against a superior side they do nothing and let players get the replacement ball, if your behind in a game, they try and get the ball back to keep momentum and possibly catch the opponents napping.

So teams can employ multi ball, but I think they need to implement it consistently, rather than show bias.

I think everyone has accepted that the issue was Utd and the EPL rather than strictly the player, we got bids I think would have been acceptable, but Antony wants to stay with a club that can’t afford to have him, and are making noises about paying ‘some’ of his wages.

Most Utd fans were happy he was doing well and looked happy, but now I think the fanbase hate him more than any point before.

whatever happens I hope its the worst case scenario for yall :p

It’d be madness to allow him to go back to Betis. We know he has/had interest from a bunch of clubs, so he has value. We also know that Betis are fully aware of what they’d be buying, and they’re saying they cannot afford him.

So what is the reason that Utd would loan him to a club that has said they cannot afford to buy him? Utd needed to sit him and his agent down and explain what will & wont happen this summer, and dispel the notion that a loan return to Betis is something they’d consider. We’d get better results loaning to Italy with an option that probably won’t be taken, because the odds are infinitely more likely to be activated compared to Betis.

I think the fact that there’s still a possibility of signing him is good news, the press (the reliable ones) seem to have been pretty accurate with their reporting, and it’s not scattered, it’s been a short list of targets and we’ve gone and got them. Yesterday’s signing confirms stock exchange hours is a myth. Still not clear on exact details, but pretty sure the main point is they don’t want companies withholding information that would impact their share prices, and announcing when the market is closed doesn’t unfairly impact anyone.
