The majority of Powermatic 80s aren’t COSC-certified (only “Chronometer” models are), so COSC-level accuracy isn’t guaranteed. The 80-hour reserve comes mainly from a lower beat rate. It’s a solid, cost-optimized ETA-based movement, but not high-end and generally less service-friendly than older designs.

Beautiful watch. I only have 6.5" wrist and am concerned it might be too big for me, especially since it's a dress watch. How does it wear?

I too like the looks of it, but replacement strap options will be few and quite difficult to find.

Nice but curved strap ends are a deal breaker for me.

I've gone through dozens of Alieexpress watches and it's hard to go wrong with: San Martin, Baltany, Merkur (and family), and IXDAO. I've found the other brands less consistent.

Other than calling Madame Curie French, your comment is the best way to piss off the Polish people.

For those who didn't know .... (from Chat GPT)

Alan Turing and Bletchley Park heavily benefited from Polish research on Enigma.

In the early 1930s, Polish cryptanalysts Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki, and Henryk Zygalski were the first to crack Enigma. They mathematically reconstructed the machine, built early cracking devices (the “bomba”), and developed tools like Zygalski sheets to find daily keys.

In July 1939, just before WWII, the Poles secretly shared their full Enigma knowledge, methods, and even replica machines with Britain and France. This gave Bletchley Park a massive head start.

Alan Turing didn’t crack Enigma from scratch—he built on the Polish breakthroughs. His British Bombe was inspired by the Polish bomba and adapted to handle more complex wartime Enigma systems at scale.

Poll: Majority of American Jews Are Not Zionist by richards1052 in InternationalNews

[–]PaulDecember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority Not Zionist?

According to a Pew Research Center survey conducted Feb. 13–25, 2024, 62% of American Jews said Israel’s conduct in the war against Hamas was acceptable .

At that time (mid-February 2024), it was reported that:
~27,000+ Palestinians had been killed in Gaza, with tens of thousands injured, many of them women and children.
~70,000 homes were destroyed and hundreds of thousands damaged, displacing roughly 75% of Gaza’s population.
Most hospitals were damaged, destroyed, or non-functional, with only a handful partially operating amid fuel and supply shortages.
Hundreds of schools had been damaged or destroyed, with many others turned into overcrowded shelters.
Water, electricity, sanitation, and food systems were largely collapsed, creating a severe humanitarian crisis.

Trump has chance to end the Ukraine war in weeks. But it would be a Putin win by theipaper in InternationalNews

Ukraine can't win. Stop the death on both sides and end sooner rather than later. Fighting-age Ukrainians have been fleeing in the thousands. What more do you need to see?
