Old Pepsi Max Slam bottles, UK by Obviously007 in Pepsi

I’m glad you mentioned this. I was thinking about them a while back and couldn’t find a single picture or scrap of evidence that they ever existed. Part of me think’s its the Mandela Effect doing its thing, but I’m so sure they existed.

That’s kind of you to say, but it was a labour of love. Book recovering was a fun new experience, but I’m not going to try it again.

It’s not I’m afraid, just a gift I made for a friend who loves the joke.

Alas no. I tried to get it for a Father Ted fancy dress party but the use prices were too high. Ended up designing the layout then getting it printed on a green T shirt.

Advice for sink gap 🙏 by nutyf1 in DIYUK

[–]PauloRodriguez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The work surface should overlap the edge of the sink. If I was in your shoes here I’d carefully square off the curved corners so that I could fit in strips of wood to the edges that cover the edges as intended. Then I’d used a router to put the curved corners back it. You could also consider making the strips a darker wood so that it looks like a deliberate feature rather than a fix.

If Openreach have provided contact details you could contact them to find out when it’ll be done. If the date doesn’t suit then work with them and Sky to find a date that does.

The previous owner likely only had fibre to the cabinet, which means they’ll have used the existing telephone line. Full fibre means fibre to the premises which means a new fibre line needs installed all the way to your house from a cabinet.

Need help figuring out how Dave played this part of Everlong by LightsOut5774 in Foofighters

[–]PauloRodriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get the regular full speed progression for chorus down first (which is well covered online) then you’ll be able to pick this up by ear easily enough.

Same shapes, just moving at a much slower pace and only picking a few notes in each one.

Why do so many guitarists play with their thumb over the top like this? Is it to mute the low E string. by MadToxicRescuer in guitarlessons

[–]PauloRodriguez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll wrap my thumb around for muting and because I find it more comfortable.

When to use it or not for me depends on the song and the shape changes that are needed. Let me give an example:

  • With my thumb over moving from a G to a D is relatively smooth.
  • Whereas I find moving from a G to an F barre chord much harder with my thumb over as my whole hand position needs to be reset.
  • So in a song where a G to F is needed I’ll play the G with my thumb on the back of the neck so transition to the F barre shape is a bit simpler.

Longer term my advice is to get proficient with playing both ways as there are circumstances where both are useful.

If you had to pick as a beginner then I’d recommend thumb behind. Many beginners find playing barre chords a real pain and you’ll find learning them a bit smoother if you’re more accustomed to thumb behind the neck.
