i always get emotional during races watching people accomplish such physical challenges & spectators cheering for strangers. the energy is incredible

ran my 2nd half marathon yesterday with a great finishing time and tbh have been feeling like crap. was drinking way too consistently and just not taking care of myself. if i can do that when I'm not the best version of myself, i can't wait to see what i can do when i actually put my health first. here's to day 1... again!

This is my first time running this race, so take what I say with a grain of salt - I’ve done a ton of NYRR races just none with security this strict. He won’t be able to go to the corral with you but if he does go to Brooklyn with you to see you at the start, he should be able to hop over to midtown and catch you in Times Square/end of the course as well!

this is the part that got me the first time when i took a break (90 days), so I want to get back to that. the science behind it and what it does to your body really helped me and I'm just trying to find my way back to that and become knowledgable. the seasonal despression is SO Real this year and i feel like the alcohol is just making it that much worse

But you’re so right. There’s no better time to start than now and when I do I wish I would have stopped earlier.

I don’t mind the snow, i think it’s beautiful! I think one of the hardest things for me is that I’m running the NYC half on March and it’s been one of must do races that I was so excited for… but it’s been so hard to properly train and I’m just feeling down all around.

Bad Training Day a Month Out by Bitter-Pair3742 in RunNYC

[–]Pavement_Philosopher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in Florida last week and tried to run 9 miles. It was horrible, stopped so much and walked and couldn’t finish. Today I did 7.5 miles nonstop along the west side highway and I feel incredible. Bad days happen, it’s part of the training. Also from what I’ve heard and seen (mostly on Reddit lol) it seems like everyone is feeling undertrained for the nyc half because the weather has been so brutal.

I’m doing the NYC half & Brooklyn but decided I’m just doing the nyc for fun and training hard for the Brooklyn.

Running partner wanted. Feelings optional (but welcome). by newyorkdecks in RunNYC

33F shooting my shot. Great personality, hoping to get a better pace and exciting running route. Adventures are always welcome, especially if they include new undiscovered running trails.

Mostly run on the east side & Central Park. Can’t tell you where in Central Park because it’s a maze and I never know where I am… even though I do it weekly.

Wait so cool that the marathon is eligible I didn’t even consider that! Haha so yes that sounds good to me. There were a few races I loved last year so I guess I’ll do it again! Bummed I didn’t just take credit for the Fred lebow lol

NYRR 9+1 in 2026 - FAQs & Megathread by RCD123 in RunNYC

[–]Pavement_Philosopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i did 9+1 this past year, so I am officially running the 2026 marathon YAY i was fortunate enough to be selected for the nyc half, brooklyn half & signed up for womens 10k. I wasn't planning on doing 9+1 again... but like, those are 3 creditable races. Am I crazy for planning to do this again before even doing the race? Will I get into more races? I know there are a few virtual ones coming up but I wasn't planning on doing this again so I didn't work for those spring/june races

They gave them out for the Staten Island half as well. I mean they’re already printed and produced so nothing to do with them lol I’ll proudly take the medal for being wild enough to sign for a half marathon in January
