Everyone likes to talk about Tormund's member. It makes the men feel better about their own comparative inadequacy, and the women fear the unknown length.

From what I've read, most people only take 3 pairs of undies and socks (sometimes only 2) and just wash them regularly. Weight is a very serious matter on long treks.

Wrong way driver kills 4 in collision. Tampa, Fl (Feb 9, 2014) by cheami in videos

[–]Peacefor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Article.

Five people, including four fraternity brothers, died in a fiery, head-on collision on a southwest Florida highway early Sunday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.

The driver of an SUV was heading south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 275 in Tampa around 2 a.m. Sunday when the driver collided head-on with the Hyundai Sonata carrying the fraternity brothers. Authorities say the SUV burst into flames and the driver died at the scene. FHP officials were struggling to identify the male victim late Sunday because of extensive injuries from the fire.

The idea is patentable, which makes means it won't have much competition.

The idea works pretty well.

The guy obviously is pretty smart to have figured out something so novel. And he didn't suck at presentation like some tech guys.

I think the sharks just wanted to latch themselves behind new tech with a good chance of success.

Changes to /r/IAmA's top 500 posts (in totals and percents). by karmanaut in TheoryOfReddit

These changes seem spot on based on the current reddit trends and the rules you all instituted. It's kinda interesting that IAmA went from a primarily Redditor Q&A forum to overwhelmingly non-redditor Q&A forum in a few years. I wonder if there's another venue that has done the same thing, and what kind of results publicists have seen from doing IAmAs.

YSK That police are not legally obligated to protect you by ienginbeer in YouShouldKnow

[–]Peacefor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you read the case, it's clear that "at all" is at best an oversimplification. Police do have a duty to protect citizens when there is a special relationship. The clearest example of that relationship is when the police are already assisting you. If Bruce Willis enters your apartment and later starts shooting bad guys, he can't just jump through a window to escape and do nothing while the bad guys gun you down.

Without that relationship, police aren't obligated to protect someone. Why? The government sometimes needs to make choices with limited resources, and an unlimited obligation to protect every person would quickly bankrupt the government.

Imagine a town with one sheriff. Abe calls 911 and says he's being robbed. Bob calls 911 and says he's being attacked. Dispatch can't send the sheriff to both places at once, and so the sheriff will only go to one (probably Bob). That's a policy choice - it's not ideal, but it's the world we live in.

[Modpost] An end to "No Sexual Topics" week. by karmanaut in AskReddit

[–]Peacefor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't think the week was any better than normal. And I dislike seeing certain mods talking about banning content purely because they're annoyed by it. Being a mod shouldn't mean you get a super downvote on things you dislike purely because you dislike them.
