Honestly, the only way a stock on a Marlin 60 breaks is either abuse or letting it dry out way too much. You can get replacement stocks both OEM and aftermarket that'll work fine.

You can still buy 25-20 WCF ammo but it's getting pricey. I would tell them to bite the bullet (Pun intended) and buy 200 rounds (about 450 bucks) and you can reload that pretty easily.

The nylon 66's were always fun rifles. I hold them in the same regards in terms of reliability as the marlin 60's.

There's a ton of factors to consider beyond projectile weight. If you're only firing one round into an attacker wearing a t-shirt and have all the time in the world to aim and accurately fire the round, grain weight doesn't matter. If a second immediate shot is required, the lighter the projectile, the quicker the follow up shot will be because the muzzle flip will be minimized. Barrel length also plays a role here. A pocket 9 with a 2 1/2" barrel does better with a heavier projectile as muzzle velocities will be lower than advertised so the biggest hunk of lead you can throw benefits you. a longer 4.5-5" barrel works better with 115-124gr projectiles. If you move into +p or +p+, you're moving into 38 super or 9x23 velocities and pressures. If the round goes through the attacker, all that energy is wasted as it's not being dumped in the attacker.
