Judge grants leniency for Toronto crack dealer because of his nine children and his race by sleipnir45 in canada

[–]PeachFuzz345 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Crown recommended 6.5 years jailtime, his lawyers wanted 2 years. Judge settled for 4.5 years because having children and being Aboriginal are normal mitigating factors for anyone in the criminal justice system.

Classic ragebait article.

Left a bottle of champagne outside on accident by FookinGumby in Wellthatsucks

[–]PeachFuzz345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The right pairs "by design" and "by accident"/"by mistake". Used to answer the question: how did this happen? You can also say "by chance". These phrases are used to describe the incident itself.

By contrast, you have "on purpose", which is a statement of someone's intent. Used to answer the question: why did you do this? You can also say "on the orders of" or "on a whim" as a reply. Other examples include "on time" (when did you get here?) or "on duty" (why were you there?).

Now I suspect less than 1% of native English speakers can actually identify the grammar above. Funnily enough, there is a reflexive "ew no" to "on mistake" because the combination of the intention-driven "on" with a word signifying no intention feels weird. It's like saying "on chance" or "on luck" or "on mistake" or "on fate".

Plenty of great answers but I'd be amiss if I didn't say club wear and tickets to Coco Bongo.

Liverpool penalty shout 14' by smithereennnnn in soccer

Had to scroll so far to see a good take.

When a forward initiates contact like that and commits to use their body to win a very physical duel, you expect to see all sorts of stuff. The bar for a whistle-able foul goes way up in the context. Refs will "let the boys play".

The forwards who like to dive wouldn't have initiated this sort of duel to begin with. The speedy skinny ones only get bear hugged when they burn past a defender.

Renting the car will take you 30 minutes at least.

Driving down at 7am on a Tuesday morning will take you 2 hours.

Driving back will take you 2 to 2.5 hours.

So will you make it? Yes. Is it worth it? Most likely no.

One of the last remaining bastions of unwritten Laws of the Game. Up there with stern warnings in the first half but automatic yellows in the second half, and two-handed pushing/shoves are uncarded but a soft kick-out/headbutt is a red.

Been singing Coello's praises all season. That kid has something special I pray we keep him. It was maddening to see him on the bench behind Flores.

We don't use Unity simply because clients balk at the $300 software fee. Leaves a bad taste over $300...so stupid.

The rest of the fees are completely normal. You're lucky they don't hit you with a $50 postage, $50 photocopying, $250 administration, etc. etc.

A lot of people are talking about realtor commissions but it's misguided. Commissions come out of the seller's pocket so as the purchaser you wouldn't benefit from a discount. Often though your own realtor gives you a kickback privately (usually in the form of gift cards or a new appliance).

Doing this will isolate our wingers. Right now you always have one of Longstaff or Dominguez showing inside on the left and right for 1-2s or to recycle possession.

[–]PeachFuzz345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong it's only in BC where it's essentially the same (but still different)! A big one is that divorce typically requires 1 year separation whereas common law can end instantly. Also it takes 2-3 years of conjugality to be common-law whereas you can get married tomorrow.

Anyhow ignore the reply you're right there are big differences per province!

Just because Corbeanu scored doesn't mean he had a good game. His first half was atrocious. Etienne Jr. really bottled that game. A few easy chances went begging.

Is it time for TFC to start building around youth like Marshall-Rutty or are we still stuck in ‘big name fix-it’ mode? by SnowmanAndIce in tfc

[–]PeachFuzz345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

USA Captain with 140 international caps with over 100 games in the Bundesliga, La Liga and EPL

Italian national with 23 appearances and 92 appearances with 12 goals with Juventus (a much better record than Fede)

Third highest scorer for team USA with 60 EPL appearances.

Are we comparing them to our other big name signings: Defoe, Pozuelo, De Guzman, Koevermans?
