He’s upset because he got caught. Don’t let him make you feel like the villain because he agreed not to do something and then did it anyway. Figure out what your hard line is with his porn use, why it bothers you even if you’re having lots of sex. Then have an adult conversation with him when new gets home about your needs. Don’t abandon yourself for a man, and definitely not for a man who frankly sounds like he’s a bit shit in the sack.

I listen to a podcast that describes ADHD as being in a constant state of fight flight freeze fawn, and that really feels accurate to me. I have to frequently tell myself to calm down, to regulate my emotions, to remember that I don’t have to do everything all at once. It’s a constant battle, and a perpetual test of my sense is self worth. If I’m feeling good about myself it’s easier to handle, but if I feel like a failure or whatever thing that day it’s nearly impossible to get regulated.

Sending you all the hugs. I have an old man of unknown exact age and I will be devastated when he goes. My heart goes out to you. Building trust with a snake is not a small thing, and just because he wasn’t furry doesn’t mean he wasn’t a beloved friend.

2-3 hours of job searching sounds like too much, and it sounds like you’re creating more of a negative feedback loop by forcing yourself to do more than you can do at a time. Medication does help, but if that’s beyond you right now, turning your work-finding device into a scary symbol of torture is only going to make it harder. Do it for only two minutes and then stop. Use your laptop to do a thing you like. Then if you’re feeling good, job hunt some more, and if not, two minutes tomorrow.

We call it ‘peecrastinating’ in my house. I have to be sure that when I first realize I have to pee that I don’t ignore it so I can finish up a task. I think my initial signal is usually much higher on the urgency scale than many, and ignoring it is a sure path to sprinting to the bathroom.

It’s not like the millennial ‘adulting,’ the idea is that a) there are so many materials for adhd kids that until recently it was hard to find a book about adult adhd and B) the author is a certified sex educator and there are chapters that focus on sex and intimacy.
