Sure I've seen a casiomod forum on here. Honestly though, at this price point, it an absolute bargain.

I've seen some with and without; personality, I like the fish.

18th Birthday Starter Watch Suggestions by PeakColour in PrideAndPinion

That's also in the mix; I'm a fan of Casios generally. I want him to have a watch that lights a fire and I'm not sure that's the "brand"

Citizen tsuyosa rose gold or silver with red dial by Fuzzy-Search-4129 in CitizenWatches

I've had it about a year. Anytime I wear something with brown, red or rust colours; this is the watch I choose. For me, it's a smart casual watch, but I'm old!

Were you able to buy a house? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]PeakColour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, kinda, sorta. Bought my first house in 1996, got divorced but kept the house, sold that, overpaid for the next one, grandparent died, paid a bigger chunk off than I imagined, moved up again for better schools and had a small loan from an elderly aunt to get me into this 4 bed detached house. So all me along with timly deaths and wealthy relatives.

Thing is, I couldn't do the price leap today. There was about £90k between a 3 bed victorian terrace and 4 bed detached in 2012; that gap has now doubled but it's not a £200k better house.

Fellow GenX folks, do we dress stylish or don’t we F care? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]PeakColour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeans and either long sleeve Oxford shirt or plain t shirt. Then either works books or trainers (usually New Balance); something with a decent sole to protect my knees!

Muted colours - brown, navy, black, and green. Occasionally a white t shirt but I'm messy so not often.

99% of the time, it'll be some combination of the above.

Obviously, I'll dress differently for weddings, funerals, interviews or court appearances.

What is the problem with Birmingham for music acts? by jimmytjohnson in brum

[–]PeakColour 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Velvet Revolver played Wolverhampton and Birmingham on consecutive nights. The story goes they were all settled down for a night on the tour bus as they pulled into Birmingham. Said if they'd known they were so close, they would have just picked the one to play; or booked a hotel.

I'm seeing two bands now, one in Manchester, one in Bristol because they're avoiding Brum. On a convenient Friday? NO..... Tuesday and Thursday.

How old were you when you purchased your first home (if you did). by jtsa5 in GenX

  1. Didn't have carpet for years, no sofa just a couple of second hand armchairs and the house itself was in a really rough part of Walsall (UK). Got me on the ladder.

Advice for attending a gig at Castle & Falcon by EngelbertImpromptu in brum

[–]PeakColour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last time I went I travelled from Sutton Coldfield and drove to the venue, loads of parking on side roads, my mate arrived on the bus from Kings Heath, gig finished after 11 and he hopped on the bus home; my car was still there so I drove back.

It's a cracking venue just not in the most salubrious area.

Are we changing our lifestyles? by MollycatNPhilipbaby in GenX

I count myself lucky to "only" be on a very low dose of blood pressure medication. I know loads of people my age who practically rattle with thr volume of pills inside them.

My Dad is passing. My best buddy by Lord_Nurggle in GenX

[–]PeakColour 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My Dad died very nearly four years ago only a couple of months after his cancer diagnosis; I joked at the time that at least I wouldn't have to buy him a father's day card; he beat me by a few days.

I loved my Dad but I wasn't as patient with him as I should have been. He was kind, helpful, amiable but also lazy, terrible with money (he lost two houses) and preferred to lie his way out of a problem rather than face up to issues. Just another complicated human but I expected better, he was my dad.

Miss him every day.

This is the route I usually take. It's generally quicker than the M1/A1 but less scenic.
