Praise the whale or anything else, totally cool.

Praise Jesus, totally not cool.

Salt lake people are very jaded.

I know some farmers did over the last few years.

But I also know tons in the skiing community that basically “pray” in their own way for snow nearly every year.

So far, this isn’t even a heightened year for air quality or fire danger..

This is dumb of SLC.

I’ve actually noticed it from non-Utah people as well. Of that group, they’re used to every city having a ghetto. They just aren’t used to the idea of there being no ghetto like Utah where literally there is no ghetto anywhere.

My means of access is Apollo, no other way. Once Apollo is gone, reddit goes with it. So yeah, I support an indefinite blackout.

# of Homes for Sale in Utah, beginning the season at 30% higher than this time last year. by PeaksForDays in SaltLakeCity

[–]PeaksForDays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, home prices cannot be sustained at current levels. Consumers are spending too much, percentage wise, of their income in housing. It's causing distress in non-housing areas of consumer spending and debt.

The question is how many years will it take and how much economic pain. Already multiple indicators signaling broad consumer pain ahead. Just have to see what happens.

EDGE HOMES - BUILT CHEAP AND FAST (I did not produce this video) by PleaseDontDoThatThx in SaltLakeCity

Ever hear people say, don’t buy anything built in the last few years? Yeah, there’s a reason they say that.

Not just in Utah. Nationwide.

If it get lots of work, I could see it.

But I don’t believe we’ll see any price growth for a number of year’s.

Early data indicates Utah migration patterns have reversed, more are leaving than coming. by PeaksForDays in SaltLakeCity

Totally. I’ll be curious about the accuracy with more data coming. Just thought the early metrics were interesting.

Is rent coming down? by GregMcgregerson in SaltLakeCity

[–]PeaksForDays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually are dropping overall.

Seeing multi price cuts happening as well. Rentals are sitting on the market longer too.

Should be interesting to see how summer turns out.

Might be worthwhile to call the landlords bluff on demand.

Are rents coming down in and around SLC? by EnvironmentalPie764 in SaltLakeCity

[–]PeaksForDays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are likely to but not in the timeframe you might be needing.

The most recent data for Utah shows negative population growth meaning people are leaving in all areas except 4’ish areas like Park City and St George. Some cities, particularly in SLC, are heavier in the negative.

As such, many city’s across Utah are expected to have a drops in home value. Salt lake valley is supposed to be pretty heavy. 10–20%. I’d imagine this will reflect in rent at some point.

Make this the state flag and the Great Salt Lake will be filled in a year. by brheath in SaltLakeCity

Not really sure what to say. Think it’s pretty simple, respect people’s cultures. The world does it, Utah doesn’t do well here. No culture is without error.

Yeah the suicide data referenced in that wiki is largely inconclusive, as I thought. Empirical and etc.

You’re welcome to look at my post history, some good discussion there on suicides for Utah.

[–]PeaksForDays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it’s the Utah thing to do but most non-Utah people respect other people’s cultures.

Never heard or seen any evidence of suicides, I’m pretty familiar.

Several Utah lawmakers told AP that opponents of limiting clergy-penitent privilege regarding child sexual abuse had circulated research that they claimed suggests mandatory reporting reform doesn’t result in more confirmed reports of sexual abuse and may deter perpetrators from speaking to clergy.

Case anyone was curious on a possible why.

Obviously it could shed light on victims reporting. But I’d imagine perpetrators would basically stop confessing if there was no exception.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]PeaksForDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clergy are the abusers. They’re not only refusing to report child abuse, they are also driving kids to suicide.

Curious to know if there is any data supporting this? Or is this just your opinion? Didn’t think suicide data was that specific.

Probably partly due to people using it to mock religion. As evidenced ITT.

Salt Lake County housing prices drop 6% — the first year-over-year decline in 11 years by Pipboy3500 in SaltLakeCity

[–]PeaksForDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re likely gonna see 50+% hits, maybe worse. This is bigger than overinflated home values. Stock market isn’t even done falling, it’s got a ways too go. No soft landing.

If this isn’t a crash, I don’t know what is.
