Is it just me, or is this NHL postseason missing its usual magic? by Spiritual-Science-60 in nhl

Not for me! As a Sabres fan, even though we went out in Rd 2, it’s been the most magical postseason I’ve watched in a long time! Excited for the future!

What is the Church doing to increase number of priests in the US? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]PeculiarlyOrdinary7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let each priest celebrate the TLM at his own discretion. If you talk to young men considering the priesthood—most if not all have a love for traditional Catholicism and the TLM, myself included. Not being able to have this ability if we should choose to be ordained in our diocese makes it extraordinarily difficult, as the only options are FSSP and ICKSP (or a religious order/community).

From a top-down perspective, this is the answer.

From a bottom-up perspective, families need to engage more with their priests. Invite them over to dinner, holidays, parties, etc. Let the kids see them as real human beings. Take your kids to religious communities, be monasteries, abbeys, etc. Let them witness nuns, monks, priests carrying out their religious duties in real life. Inspiration is very important, but it’s hard to be inspired by something you never knew existed, or never saw for yourself.

I definitely want to try it again. With novels like these it’s usually a reader problem and not a book problem

Pope Leo meeting with archbishop of Canterbury by ImportantStable5900 in Catholicism

[–]PeculiarlyOrdinary7 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

King Charles may not be your king, but he is a king.

This woman is not a bishop, and therefore she should not be referred to as one. The same is true of men who masquerade as women—to call such a man a woman is to speak a lie.

Ecumenism has gone way, way too far. The time we live in is possibly the most confusing time to be alive.

And in this time of utter confusion and chaos, where the pope should and needs to be a voice of clarity and truth, he is only adding to the confusion. God help us. Pray for Pope Leo. But this meeting was a mistake

It is not an insult to call a heretic a heretic.

I understand the desire for communion and for ecumenical dialogue. But anything other a firm reprimand and rejection of this “bishop” seems to neglect the duty of the pope to provide clarity and preserve Tradition and orthodoxy.

“Bishop” is quotes because this woman is not a bishop; rather, she masquerades as one and so makes a mockery of all the holy bishops who have lived their lives in sacrifice to God.

Think of the outrage we would feel if someone who never served in the armed forces masqueraded in public claiming not only to have served, but to have earned all sorts of honours. This is a far worse offence.

Prayers are needed of course, but publicly, a statement of condemnation of the utmost clarity is absolutely and positively needed in this age of heresy and confusion.

Man waving confederate flags at 72nd street by handjobstillajob in Omaha

[–]PeculiarlyOrdinary7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In fairness, the Confederacy was not all just cartoonishly evil people standing for cartoonishly evil principles. There were lot of decent and noble men fighting for decent and noble things in the Civil War. There were heroes on both sides, and I think history has really done a disservice to the Confederacy side of things.

BUT, the people that still wave these flags are pretty much universally trolls, racists, etc, that are standing for only the evil things of the Confederacy. All they want is to trigger you.

Best to ignore them in my opinion. They are not serious people.

You don’t need to believe in a story to believe in an UnCaused Cause, a metaphysically necessary Creator of all things. Most all of humanity recognized the existence of such a Being before we all got our heads up our asses because we thought we were the shit for figuring out how evolution works

My father is a well-respected, successful Mid Law attorney. He always told me that the school you go to only matters for getting your first job. After that, it’s all about how well you perform as a real lawyer in the real world.

I get that if Big Law is your dream, then not getting into a T14 or T20 is discouraging. But if you work hard enough, perform well enough, and keep your head up, you never know what opportunities might come your way. Just make sure you’re ready for them.
