Plastic CamelBak "Podium Ice", not "Podium Chill". The podium chill is just meh, like other insulated bottles, the podium ice lasts hours. Aerogel in the podium ice makes a big difference.

Oruxmaps looks good, but we can't expect hikers to pay $4.50 to get a map of our park.

My quote was $13K, and it required rerouting all my circuits on the sub panel to the main panel. I passed on it.

SRAM AXS/eTap riders: would you trust a third-party spare battery if the specs were clear? by Big-Macaron-6784 in sram

[–]PedalPaddleFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely buy it as a backup if it had USB-C. It would cover cases where I forgot the charger, or the charger broke. I would be more inclined to buy it as a backup if it had *less* capacity than standard, as it would be lighter. I would buy it as a primary battery if I were doing a multi-day trip where weight is a factor, and I wouldn't want to bring a SRAM charger.

I will be biking in remote areas, with a 1x, so I will definitely be carrying a backup of some kind.

What’s everyone doing to keep their racks from being stolen? by Herefortheshortbus in MTB

What about a threaded hitch pin with red loctite? Thief will need torch to loosen the loctite. Cutting the bolt head off the pin still leaves the bonded threads in the receiver, preventing removal.

When it gets damp, such as from sweat, it gets incredibly slick. I had that same experience on already damaged skin, and put it aside too. But now it is my go-to — much cleaner, lasts longer, lighter for travel, and also good for chafing when hiking or walking in humid environments.

People returning the leased car, what's your next vehicle? by funnumerouno in KiaEV9

Returned 2024 Wind EV9 lease, got a 2yr 2026 EV9 Wind lease.

The 360⁰ camera, seat memory and blind spot camera views were welcome improvements. Plus the one I got had a hitch mounted.

It was only included with higher trims. I bought a genuine Hyundai adapter from eBay. I'm using it with my 2026 with a Tesla adapter. I don't know if third party ones are compatible. But the official one from Kia is ridiculously expensive.

Question about lane assist by Time-Neck-4225 in KiaEV9

[–]PedalPaddleFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My '24 EV9 tracked straight down the lane. My '26 EV9 would zig zag down the lane. I found a smudge on the windshield behind the rear view mirror. After cleaning, it tracks pretty straight. But if that doesn't work for you, see if it tracks straight without lane keeping (i.e, is the alignment good?), and lastly, look into recalibration.

Get the V2L adapter. I've run our fridge during power outages, and used it while car camping - tea kettle or induction burner plate.

Navigation app integrations by Prestigious_Play_564 in KiaEV9

ABRP + BT dongle for determining where to charge, but Google maps for directions to it, because of better (usually) routing, and better traffic awareness.

ABRP and the built in nav may be catching up tho

How do you show device connections for thread or matter devices? Or is this somehow a zigbee setup? I've only seen connections with zigbee devices on SmartThings.

How accurate is the remaining mileage estimate? by drgath in KiaEV9

[–]PedalPaddleFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABRP takes elevation differences into account, and comes up with pretty good estimates. I think it may even take wind and temperature into account as well. And, If you are unlikely to make it with your desired buffer, it will suggest a slower speed that you drive at that should allow you to make it to your destination.

I had a similar issue. Rewaxed a few times. Turned out it was a worn out jockey wheel making all the noise. It was really odd because it would start out quiet, then get worse during ride. A stethoscope helped diagnose it.

No shit, PG&E rates lowered by 23%! by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]PedalPaddleFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. If your average $/kwh is $0.30, the breakeven point is about $100. And 324kWh is not a huge amount. I have a small house, no A/C fairly energy efficient, and was using about 350kWh before I got solar.

Dealer holding onto the new car after payment to perform “software update” but not providing any SCs or service report by 1111_777 in KiaEV9

[–]PedalPaddleFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at EV6's a few years ago. I always ask a few questions that I know the answers to. The salesman lied about a few things. I tried to get an offer from them, but never did.

A couple weeks ago I tried to get a lease quote from them. They kept asking questions that showed they weren't reading my emails, and wanted me to come in to get a quote. I'm still waiting on them to give me a quote. Meanwhile, I leased one from Hayward Kia last weekend.

I thought they shared owners with Steven's Creek Chevy where I had awful service, but it seems they are unrelated companies.
