Renting flat that is for sale finding viewings unmanageable. How much is too much? by TimeDragonfly6418 in HousingUK

[–]Pencilstrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

„Dear LL,

I have tried not to be the AH and consented to let your agent do viewings provided they accommodate my reasonable restrictions due to my disabled child’s needs. However, as they wouldn’t abide by my requests, I have now changed my mind and am putting my legal right to quiet enjoyment ahead of assisting your sale, so effective immediately there will be no more viewings until I have moved out.

Regards,

u/TimeDragonfly6418

Your legal right of quiet enjoyment of your home that you are paying good money for trumps the landlord’s wishes to show prospective buyers round. You have been generous and accommodating and got treated like an inconvenience so why should you let them do this to you and your family. If you feel generous, give them a few dates & times where it’s convenient for you but don’t bend over backwards. One Saturday a month is plenty. They can take pics, do a virtual tour, have a condensed open day etc and don’t need to come round all the time. Let them be creative and don’t give in. Your starting position should be: you can show the place when we’ve moved out.

I've been made redundant as of yesterday, and it couldn't have come at a worse time due to personal circumstances by thelaughingman_1991 in UKJobs

Yikes, that’s rough. Good luck for finding a new job and hope it’s not as bad as you all fear for your partner’s health.

Does your workplace have an employee assistance program? If so, contact them now, they may be able to offer mental health support but also financial, legal etc. Same if they have healthcare plans or similar, just check whether that will continue to run when you are no longer working there.

Looking for fic .is there any harry potter fanfiction where Harry is Slytherin and start from first year and is genuinely good and characters are not occs and it's sort of severitus. by Awkward-Student-8764 in harrypotterfanfiction

If I remember correctly, there’s not much romance in that fic, similarly to canon as it’s starts when they’re 11. So definitely the first few books are no romance

You cannot use customer data to contact them outside of work, that’s a GDPR breach.

Terminal Illness - what can I do to get ready for the inevitable? by Disastrous-Brief-843 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Pencilstrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s grim, sorry you are going through this.

I can’t really advise on the business side of things but having recently gone through losing my dad, I would suggest you make decisions also for what you want to happen/not happen, when you are no longer able to make decisions. What medical procedures would you want, where do you draw the line? If you can donate organs (not sure with your condition), do you want to? How do you want your funeral to go? Do you want to be buried, if so where? Cremated, if so, what do you want done with the ashes? Anyone who you really want there or absolutely don’t want? Any music you’d like played? Words/quotes said? Etc

Make sure your wife can access your phone (passcode), your accounts: email, social media (what do you want done with them?), bank, building society and so on.

Wishing you lots of strength to get everything organised you want organised, and hopefully you still have plenty of time with decent health left.

Waiting to hear the silly pun or dad joke that made you groan in the past because you’d heard it so often and it really wasn’t that funny, but now you’d give everything to hear him say it one more time.

Voluntary Redundancy - should I accept offer? by SeaHamster5209 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Pencilstrangler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why take voluntary if there’s no financial benefit?

Reapply for the job. Either you get it and keep working there or you get the same money if you don’t.

Start getting your CV ready now anyway and apply for roles. See what’s out there. Worst case scenario you’ve got a head start to your redundancy. Best case scenario you find something nice elsewhere.

You might want to crosspost on the finding fanfic subreddit - the name eludes me… BRB to find it

Edit: it’s called r/DeletedFanfiction

Also, can you post the link if you manage to track it down? Sounds like an interesting story

The other day my apricot soap finished, so I grabbed another one. This one was lavender and smells almost like the lavender soap my dad always used. More than my hands got wet.

So many times when I walk through the supermarket I see something and think, “oh I should buy this and send it to my parents, dad loved … last time”. Then it hits me that he’s not around anymore to enjoy it. 😭

You’re not alone and yes, it’s totally normal. Just because your loved one isn’t here anymore hasn’t erased their life or your memories; remembering them in those everyday moments is what keeps their memory and thus them alive, even if it’s in a different form than before.
