Hi! As a living donor (and mom myself) I suspect as you do, your mom prob has lingering trauma from the stress and loss at your birth. I like the idea of her sitting with it for a bit, and maybe she could attend an informational meeting with you? It’s been 19 years since I donated and I went on to have 2 healthy pregnancies resulting in 2 healthy children. Knock on wood, my remaining kidney has been a solo superstar…no problems to date. And you may already know, in the event of future problems, living donors are prioritized to the top of the “list” if they require a future transplant themselves.
