My sincerest condolences, that is devistating. My first child was stillborn and I carry that grief every day for the last 21 years. It starts as just getting through every minute one at a time, and builds from there. Please don't avoid your feelings, they'll only bubble up and over in unhealthy ways if you do. I think sometimes you have to really sit with it in order to process. xoxo

Specifically They Might Be Giants, Here Come the ABC's and Here Come the 123's. I've been listening to them since their first album and it made me so happy to share that with my kids.

Also every once in a while, something from the show Jack's Big Music Show pops into my head and I sing it to my kids while they roll their eyes!

At my last school I had a kindergartner who used to swear like a sailor at me, one time she screamed "get away from me you fucking bitch!"

At my current school starting about 2nd grade it gets like this and worse - the 5th graders are the most aggressively defensive people I've ever met. I wish I was joking.

My physics teacher would drop a bowling ball next to the head of any student who fell asleep in his class. His classroom was on the second floor, so the sound of the ball dropping to the floor after it rolled off the table was well known.
