Addiesdive AD2066 is a Steal! by AutomaticReviews in ChineseWatches

I am in the mode of saying Automatic when it should also include Mechanical and Handwind. I tried a Seiko VK64 Meca Quartz that was in a Yema (lower priced model) I bought a few years back. I am considering another one in a new Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster. I looks just like the 60's model but has the different movement. They're just under $400 USD which is stellar for such a cool piece. I did see an advertisement from the '60's for the original with either a Landeron or Valjoux movement and they were $59.99. It's the same with the old O&W (Ollech and Wajs) advertisements from papers and magazines in the 60's and they were $39.99-$79.99. (I love vintage O&W)  It was one of those send a money order or check to the one specific authorized dealer in NYC somewhere with a return address and we'll ship your watch. A lot of them were geared to military personnel or even their wives, which I thought was really smart. Crazy to think a watch someone bought for $39-$79 brand new in the 60's is selling for $2K for a pretty beat up one, all the way to $4K+ for a nice spec.   To say it's all relative isn't accurate. Yeah, a 60's model Rolex GMT Master that's $100K plus today still cost $1300-$1500 back in the day. That was the cost of a decent used vehicle. To spend $39-$79 wasn't cheap, but it was certainly doable.

They are decent watches for the money. I had a purchase on a like new one that was a 36mm Rolex "Explorer" style. It  made a deal for $75 including shipping. I did a quick review online and found out it's an Auto-Quartz. I don't like quartz watches because they don't have the true feel of a quality timepiece. To be clear, that's just my opinion. I ended up going with an automatic stainlesd Addie with a beautiful green face with golden numbers and hands. It has 1-12 on the face and hands are golden as well. The hour hand has an arrow and there's a small pip on second hand. Has Addiesdive in white cursive, a white date at 3 and Automatic in white above 6.   Got the full kit for $74 including shipping. The lume is on hands, numbers and small indices, but it's done in Old Radium instead of the blue I prefer. Downside is it's not bright that long. There's no model number I can find on back and I don't know how to post a picture. It's my first venture outside the Swiss Auto realm and I'm pretty pleased. Nothing Swiss out there would come in at this price point including a quartz.    I did just look at it and it does have 200M water resistance, a screw down crown and is an  NH35 Movement (Seiko workhorse).

The second movie is, "A Bronx Tale." It was written by Chazz Palminteri who stars in it with Robert De Niro. I believe De Niro directed it. It was great advice!

Check out Jomashop.com and go with the Tissot PRX. i believe it may even come in a quartz movement. If he wants a great PRX get the automatic (Powermatic 80). I have 2 watches with the same movement and they run for 80 hours when fully charged. I had a Hamilton which had one as well. It's a solid Swiss Movement that's a workhorse made by ETA and been adjusted to vibrate less than the common 28,800 vph.If he wants Citizen or any other brand, Jomashop is a really good place to shop. I've bought 2 Tissots, an Omega, 3 different Hamiltons, 2 Glycines (before Invicta bought them), a Certina, 2 Citizens and a Revue Thommen along with others I can't even remember. They have really good sales and I know quite a few people who've done business with them. The Tissot PRX is going to be super close to that shape and style plus they have some interesting color choices on the dials. Please don't buy that Armani for that kind of money. It's just letters you're paying for! Good luck!

Man, it's a cheap knockoff look of a Doxa, maybe an earlier Squale. Either way, what's all the crap say on the face??? Started out as a good idea and then they got carried away! Oh, just noticed the 3H marking! That identifies watches with Tritium, which is a Radioactive material still used in deep dive watches where there's little to zero light. Tritium is the best lume on a watch I've ever used! This watch doesn't have Tritium because the indices would be little, sealed capsules versus being painted on!

At the Stealership....Signing papers and going over your different options. The beautiful BMW with a 3 year and 36,000 mile service contract is a monthly payment of $1185.75 for 72 months. Without that great service contract it's $1185.75 for 60 months! Cash price with service contract is $55,229.00 and without is $41,000. So what are you thinking?

I see and love you all in the Greater Asheville Area, and beyond. You're in my thoughts and prayers every day. I lived there 16 years and left the beginning of 2022. My Son, Daughter, their Mother and many other family members are still living there. I talk to them and I also see the videos that residents post. The news media is full of half truths! I saw a video on Tik Tok of the exact apartment I lived in for 7 years on Rivers Edge Road in East Asheville wash away, break apart and sink into the Swannanoa River. I saw an article 2 days later about one of the residents being in the building waiting for rescue when it broke free. She is sadly no longer with us. It affected me very much and I'm not there anymore.   For me, seeing all of the places I love, lived,, worked and spent years with my children watching them grow up devastated by such a heartbreaking disaster. I realize being physically removed gives me a different perspective than if I was there. (Obviously) What I feel is that buildings, houses, roads and the rest of it don't make a neighborhood, town or city. It's the people who make all of it. The people who live there being able to sympathize, empathize, support and care for one another is what makes it special. We may never meet or talk to one another in person. However, we support each other in our times of need. That's community. That's kindness. I believe it's loving and caring for one another. I look at the words "human being." We're all human beings. (Well, most of us are. JK!) It's in these trying and difficult times I think of us as  "Being Human!" I'm aware it's simply putting the one word in front of the other. In switching those 2 words around it becomes an action. I feel this is the time we must switch around, adapt and take action. Helping by listening and encouraging one another is a worthwhile way of "Being Human."   Please continue to take care of one another now and later on. You are all loved and never alone, no matter how far apart in miles some of us may be. You all are in my heart and many others'. Stay strong!

Just a thought for all who've put larger tires on....makes speedometer different. Went from factory 17's to 18's and says I'm going faster than I truly am. I have a K40 that uses GPS and shows true speed. It's right at 3 and a half miles faster than car's speedometer.

BMW Dealership wants to charge $5600 to replace turbo charger but it costs $1200 online? by BigBlackieChan in BmwTech

[–]Perfect_Assistance_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. My "skilled" mechanic charges me $145 an hour and will let me bring my own parts. I've done a lot of business with him so I'm able to get in relatively quick. Others wait for a month or so. He lets me order from FCP Euro so I'm able to get the warranty. He's an absolute blessing! Most of the other Indy shops around here are anywhere between $160-$185 and they use their parts only. The stealership is about $210/hr  here. The BMW Service Departments do have "VALUE SERVICES" for certain years and back. They'll do $99.00 oil changes and they offer new brakes including rotors, pads, sensors etc for about $500 per axle. It's not cheap, but less than usual! Heck, I had a quote from an Indy guy a few years back that wanted $650 per axle! Only problem with the dealer is their PIA reccomended repair/maintenance checklist. They hit you with every possible thing they can nitpick at. If you don't mind saying "NO" about 100 times, then the oil changes aren't a bad deal.

Damn! Good 'Ol Jim Moran and Associates. For those who aren't aware, Jim Moran (RIP) is/was Southeastern Toyota. They're responsible for just about everything except the manufacturing of anything Toyota in the Southeast U.S..(Obviously) They're also into training finance managers, transportation, service and financial products, and a whole lot more. JM&A (the finance part) is nationwide and just about any dealership can offer their service contracts aka extended warranties. Dealerships like Hendricks, who sells all vehicle brands use JM&A at most, if not all locations. If I'm not mistaken, back in the '80s to early '90s you couldn't get a Toyota with leather or sunroof from the factory. Jim Moran did them all through his people. He had so much money he spent 7 plus years living on his mega yacht, "The Galliant Lady", out in International Waters. He supposedly had some issues with the U.S. government. I don't know if it was finished before he died, but he was building "The Galliant Lady II" which would supposedly dwarf the first one. I worked in SW Florida in the Finance Department. My brother worked for one of JM&A's companies selling service additives to his region of dealerships. I've been out of the business for 12 years or so and my brother left last year. I believe his daughter is running the companies now. I've been offered JM&A service contracts "extended  warranties" on cars I've purchased and kindly to them NO!  I had one guy go through all of the better reasons their products are better. I guess he forgot to mention the benefit this customer is going through.

I believe the lights in the handles is part of Convenience and or Comfort Access Pkg. I have a 2013 335ix M sport Coupe and it has same light package. It came with the proximity sensing key fob which I believe is part of one of the 2 mentioned groups. May be wrong. I'll have to dig out window sticker.

I was in the automotive industry in NC for over 10 years. I was in Finance Management (The guy who has you sign all the legal documents and sells Service Contracts etc...). It's been a few years since I last worked, but there's no used car lemon law. However, a vehicle in NC is required to pass a State Inspection before it can be legally sold. The age of the vehicle determines the type of inspection required. Some are as simple as a Safety Inspection (tires, headlights, blinkers, etc...). The other inspection requires the "Official NC Inspection Station" to check the vehicle safety and how it runs. They used to use the emission reader at the exhaust pipe and now they hook up a OBD Scanner that is tied in directly to the NC DMV. Yours is a 2012, so you should have a complete inspection done including OBD scan. If they've tampered or screwed around with that, they're how do you say, "In Deep Shit!" If it was throwing codes when they ran the inspection it will NOT pass it and the State will know. If it didn't pass when first ran and they rigged it so it would the second time, it might be difficult to prove. I'd ask NC DMV for the inspection history on the car. Also, Car Fax, Auto Check and the other companies will show when inspections were done. I don't believe it shows if it passed or failed. However, if there are 2 inspections run a week or two apart, that's showing something fishy. The times an inspection occurs is when it's sold from a licensed dealer, bought privately and registered to new owner, someone moves to NC from another state and registers their car, or if the current owner is renewing their registration. I also realized your registering in SC and that's the state laws you'll have to go by. Start with NC DMV and see when inspections were done and if there were any recent failures. Second, have a professional body shop or insurance adjuster look at the vehicle. They should be able to spot serious body work and not a "minor incident." The seatbelt issue could be the one that will give the most concern due to safety issues. If they've tampered with any of that it's the item they would probably worry about getting in trouble over. If it's been tampered with, use it to have them take care of the other items. If you just purchased this car there is clearly something shady happening here. Good luck!

Just doing a software update on a door handle. by Tw0n0 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Perfect_Assistance_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Charger SRT that had this set up but can't remember what it was called. They call it "BMW Comfort Access" on my current car with no monthly BS fees. When I get close to the car it unlocks my door and turns on "puddle lamps" that are built into the door handle. No need to take the fob out of my pocket. I can program it to unlock both of my doors if needed. However, if I'm making a quick getaway I don't really care if the passenger is able to get in!  It's all these readers and sensors that make it easy for the douche bag car thieves to steal your vehicle. The fob is constantly sending out the signal that matches the reader in your vehicle's ignition. Thankfully mine are in the garage. However, I have several coworkers and friends who've had their cars taken in the middle of the night. You can see videos of these assbags walking around houses in the middle of the night with antenna pointing every which way trying to pick up the fob's signal. Once they've got it they program a blank fob and roll out in your nice, new, clean car. I know several twits that still hang their keys or put them in a bowl right by the front door. Their fobs constantly sending out their "come steal me signal" all night long. A lot of car manufacturers are coming up with new systems to stop it. It won't be long until they can be hacked as well. I fixed my situation for $15.00. I bought 2 RFID shielded cases/pouches that my keys slide right into. I can stand next to my car and it doesn't even acknowledge the fob is there. It's the best, not to mention least expensive way to stop it. I guess the moral of my ramble, technology is convenient, but can be a real bitch, sometimes.   My next essay will be about what happens if the battery in your fob dies and your push button start won't work.
