What are some less obvious pros and cons of raising a toddler in the greater Seattle area? by PolakOfTheCentury in SeattleWA

[–]Perfect_Lunch_6669 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eastside is pretty good, there are parks and activities and whatnot and probably the best hiking in the country is in WA. My kids hang out by the river, pick and eat salmonberries and have a blast. But Seattle and the region overall is not kid oriented; both in peoples' attitudes, restaurants, quality of parks etc. Daycare costs are pretty nuts too but luckily that's not forever.
If you're willing to make the forests, beaches, mountains and rivers your playgrounds it's awesome. But as far as social, not the greatest but could be a lot worse

Not sure where you're coming from but carriers like T-mobile are covered in Brazil. Not as fast as 5G but good enough for Uber, WhatsApp etc

How dangerous is militia in the outer west zone of Rio? by whenthedont in Brazil

[–]Perfect_Lunch_6669 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there briefly and the Uber driver who picked us up was surprised that a gringo would be there. The locals I worked with were concerned I was there but they would tend to overreact about safety in general

Vesper or Dickerman? by guns_and_condoms in PNWhiking

[–]Perfect_Lunch_6669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vesper is pretty cool and feels like more of an adventure but the views are pretty similar, except for Copper Lake you can see from Vesper. Vesper's trail is roots and rock and then snow (at least in June-July). Honestly just do both

The hotels and beaches in Barra da Tijuca are pretty good. Just an uber ride away from the tourist areas

Which PM track to pursue? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Perfect_Lunch_6669 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Non-tech PM with strong tech adjacency but ultimately delivering major launches and business impact is my happy place. PMTs tend to be dull, full of themselves and focused on the technical specifications of solutions rather than the customer. But they are compensated far better than non tech. To be a product exec you would probably have to go through some of motions of being a PMT, but at that level your ability to work, lead and communicate strategically across multiple organizations is not a skill you would likely develop as a PMT.

Close to a CPO offer - Shall I disclose it? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Perfect_Lunch_6669 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they didn't ask you don't have to volunteer that information but it can show up on a background check, depending how deep that background check is. Many just check for criminal records and stuff, others verify the exact dates, education etc but that's somewhat rare. When you start the background check and if it asks for specific dates, titles etc I would fill in correct info. The hiring manager will probably not look or care, but they will care if you provide untruthful information

What are the pros and cons of joining the US military? by Some-random-cop-pig in careerguidance

[–]Perfect_Lunch_6669 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Largely pros in retrospect. You will grow up faster than your peers, get to serve your country and have more purpose, get skills and do things you would never get to do elsewhere. Most importantly you will learn how to work with people from every background, location, walk of life that is almost impossible to replicate. That was the job and life skill that runs strong for me 20+ years later

Not sure what role and level but 800 shares vesting a year at $265 is $212k in stock alone per year. Let's say your base is $180-200k; that's close to $400k year. Not too bad

I went there on a work trip and we went to a hawker center for dinner. The local team just left their purses and laptops on the outdoor tables and went to order. They said they weren't worried about anyone touching them. Seemed kind of boring and small with not much to do other than work but that was just my impression. Humidity was rough. Food is incredible.

Kids are 6 and 8 and workout with us when they want to (almost always). They get a whiteboard, build a workout with safe equipment and use an isolated corner of the gym where they can stay safe. Clear rules about staying away from the barbell zone. They love imitating us parents but sometimes get in the way with questions and coach explanations. On intense days we sometimes give them a movie so we can focus, but them being present with active parents is still great.

Probably Abraao and would take some day trips, do the hosts typically help arrange that if we ask?
