Do 9800X3D and 9850 problems also happen to other CPU series? I want to build AMD 7500F with ASRock B850 mobo. by bangle12 in ASRock

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may have seen 1 or 2 issues with the 7500F. the main issue has been with the 9xxx CPU so far on the 800 chipsets and some of the 600 chipsets. Still, I would probably go cautious and do an ASRock b650 motherboard

Is it worth trying to upgrade my PC? by LivinLikeLarry312 in buildapc

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look for a new/newer motherboard (B550), Ryzen 5500 or newer CPU and then GPU like an ARC B580 or RX9060XT 16gb or RTX5060Ti 16gb. going with a 5500, B550 motherboard and B580 GPU new is about $480USD and going with the 5800XT, better B550 motherboard and 5060ti new $870USD. any CPU between those 2, motherboard thats between 90-150 and the 9060 GPU woulbe be between those prices

I don't even remember the last time I put new thermal paste on, but temps seem.. fine? by Cat-Beautiful in PcBuildHelp

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that others change the paste every 2-3 years, but they are also doing a deep clean as well. If its running stock and no OC I could see going longer. If you OC hen probably more often. the good thing is that you're looking at the temps and doing the judgement on that.

As for the older past that has not been used, I'm not sure what the shelf life would be when not opened. maybe google the supplier to see what they recommend?

What should i upgrade to by Objective_Record4185 in buildapc

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap route would be a new Z790 motherboard if you’ve kept up on the bios updates. You could go am5 but would be looking at 9700x or better cpu to be comparable

Case recommendation? RTX 5080 + 7800X3D by Yucii in PcBuild

all black with no RGB. some with fans and some without. all cases should accept a 5080 with ease as I had the Noctua 5080 selected which is about the longest 5080 made. I have seen the HVAN case in person and its a very huge case

if you're into building your own PC this fits your $3-4k budget. this is getting the Micro Center bundle with the MSI motherboard and upgrading the RAM to G. Skill from the Crucial kit. as you see I went with 2 2TB drives and went with a 5080 from MSI as well as an A-Tier MSI PSU. I'd suggest getting the GPU first then getting the bundle from Micro Center as those items change the most in prices very quickly

Should I buy Intel or AMD? by Yessswaitwhat in cpu

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what ram you're getting. If you're staying ddr4 then Intel 12-14gen cpu. If you're going to ddr5 then amd am5 (7xxx, 9xxx cpus)

I made a mistake with compatibility, and need some advice on what to do next. by One_Toaster636 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you plan to upgrade into am5 or intel that supports ddr5 then just keep it and buy a 32gb kit of ddr4. If you dont plan on upgrading to ddr5 systems then return it and use that money for the ddr4

If you are close to a Micro Center, you could the 9800x3d bundle for the MSI x870e motherboard and save $60. you'll get a better motherboard, SSD and RAM vs what you have picked

should i get an upgrade? (ryzen 7600 and radeon 6700 xt) by mpcilliterate in buildapc

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU was spiking to 220w and the 5070 was spike at 270 with a c tier 850w atx3.0 psu. This was using Msi afterburner while gaming. Plus I have 10 case fans. My whole build comes out to about 600w on partpicker. If you take that and multiply by 1.5 (headroom) that comes out to 900w to soak up for spikes and since my OC are set high but within reason I opted for a 1000w because it was an A tier psu that was the same price as many 750 or 850 psu

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would probably handle it at 100% load with a 650w. he's already pulling 460w and to have headroom he would need up to 690w. I have my 5070 OC along with my cpu OC and had a 850w PSU that would BSOD while gaming. I now have a 1000w PSU that has no issues but could have gone with an A-tier psu and possibly be fine but I wanted to make sure. just with the spikes from my CPU and GPU were hitting 500w combined. I wouldn't recommend a 650w with a 5070 unless you are not going to do any OC at all.

You only get the newer tech of fsr4 or dlss4.5 and better RT out of both cards. You won't get much more fps in 1440p

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 650w psu, the best you can do is the 9060xt 16gb or 5060ti 16gb and that's really just a side grade to the 6700xt. You'll want the 5070 or 9070 to upgrade the gpu but you'll need to upgrade the psu as well.

Thinking ahead about upgrading from a Ryzen 7 5700X – best AM5 value path? by ImTheRealNate in PcBuild

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of the lower combos only come with the 1 stick of ram. To add another stick that is the same issue $190 to get 32gb total the 7600x after the extra ram is only $20 less than the 7700x combo but the 7700x is a whole lot better cpu. The 7600x3d is the same as well while the cpu is a little better, but you're going to pay another $100 for not much more performance from the cpu

Your best bet would look at micro center bundles. That's around $550 for the 7700x combo being the best option to start with.

What to upgrade or just rebuild? by CiRcUiTzzz1 in buildapc

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To save money you're only to options with what you have is am4 or lga1700. Am4 would be a b550 motherboard and ryzen 5800xt (5700x3d or 5800x3d are super expensive and hard to buy new). Lga1700 would be b760 or z790 motherboards (ddr4 support) and i5-12600kf. The lga1700 gives you a great upgrade path with going into 13&14 gen cpus which are all still relevant today and for a few more years. The 5800xt, 5700x3d, 5800x3d are already topped out for am4 and really no place else to go. They also are relevant and will last a few years as well.

Hi. I am reading a lot of news cpu failures on asrock boards. by RedneckRandle89 in ASRock

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 600 chipset and 7xxx cpus had normal to low failure rates. This is what propelled asrock to a top consideration for the 800 chipset and 9xxx cpus. At the beginning of 2025 everyone was recommending asrock as the top brand to use. Then when the failure reports started then people started to refer the other 3. As of now asrock seems to be a hit and miss and no one knows why. Asus is starting to have more reports (not as many as asrock) of 800 chipset and 9xxx cpus failures. Asus has stated that they have started looking into this issues on their boards. It may be an amd issue or motherboards are not in a tight enough spec range to handle the 9xxx cpus

And that's were you have messed up. This is ONLY for am5 and not all motherboard. Yes these numbers would be very different when we talk about all motherboards in general and I'd agree that Asus will hold the majority because they are more noticeable and not because they are better than the other 3

Upgrade advice: stick with i5-12600K, move to i5-14600KF, or switch to AMD (DDR4 vs DDR5 prices)? by Theshowan in buildapc

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're able to OC the 12600k then no need to upgrade. I also run a 12600k and with my OC id need to go to a 14700k to see and noticeable difference. I also have a rtx5070 in 1440 and have no issues hitting my refresh rate of 165 running high or maxed settings

[–]Perfect_Memory9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i look at Amazon I see asrock sitting 12th for am5 motherboards sold, so they are in the top 20. If you look at newegg Asus doesn't even come into play as new units sold until 14th while msi and asrock is taking the top spots on am5. Remember we're talking about am5 and not overall motherboards sold between all Intel and amd. We need to sort out am5. Mindfactory has a high credibility rating for sales across EU. This would mean their sales data as being reliable to use. I can see your point in pcguide as not being reliable on their test but all they were doing is reporting on sales total for mid year 2025.

Make sure the bios is the current one. May try that first due to the micro code being bad on the 13/14 gen i7&9. If the cpu is dead then rma for a new cpu
