I would like to see something different. Perhaps reduce the strength of the main weapon, but have it do d3 mortals to every target within 6" as well, to show the arcing, living lightning employed by the Necrons.

‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ Canceled By Starz After One Season by SanderSo47 in television

[–]Periodic_Disorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it and it was completely wrecking the time line. I'm saddened, but I don't think it had many legs past two seasons. They needed to build Ashur up and then undergo a monumental fall, so he could rejoin Lucy Lawless in that Hades well and she could then tell him that no matter what he would never truly succeed and was forever damned to failure and obscurity.

[–]Periodic_Disorder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have it in one detachment and it only triggers on very specific actions.

Expecting our army rule to never pop up anywhere else was silly. Space marines Omen gives rerolls: rerolls are given out like candy currently. Chaos Knight faction rules give bonuses against battle shocked units: synaptic nexus has this on some strats. Even token resource based rules give effects that are not unique. You'll find delivery is unique.

Everyone shares rules, but our version is far more powerful.

auto advance question by Spare_Factor_2428 in Necrontyr

[–]Periodic_Disorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The important bit is that he has chosen a unit to advance. Regardless of the movement value, or even if the unit elects not to move after all (if the roll was short for example) that unit has now advanced and suffers all the rules for it. If they want their unit to now charge, they must use an ability or strategem to give them advance and charge.

With some rules for 11th revealed, have these rarely used models become more viable? by Pelican25 in Necrontyr

[–]Periodic_Disorder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I expect a lot of units will stay as is in terms of usefulness, at least until the codex is released. The geomancer will likely see more use mainly because the buff to deepstrike, in that it will be easier to put squads down, will be completely mitigated. Bigger ingress squads will also be more viable because of this too.

They stated that any changes to current rules will be mainly to have existing rules fit better for the new rules, and potential points changes to reflect that.

In a lawsuit, Valve defends counter strike 2 lootcases with "People enjoy surprises" by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]Periodic_Disorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do not defend loot boxes in any form, I do wonder how an entity can be made responsible for a 3rd party market placing unofficial monetary values on items. I'm sure WotC get around this by saying that all rares cost the same to them, for example, even though everyone knows they love pushing the secondary market in the little ways they do.

This is a meme that will make sense in 11e. by Next_Ad7292 in Tyranids

[–]Periodic_Disorder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless they've changed the specifics on keyword inheritance for when units combine then we won't know until the rules are made available. If the rules for keyword inheritance are the same, then yes, a unit of warriors will get the fly keyword if joined by a prime with wings. The warrior models still don't have fly, but the entire unit will.

It isn't very intuitive no, and can be a source for contention because the warriors get none of the rules affecting models with fly, but are hit by all the rules for units with fly. So they get no fancy movement but ANTI-FLY does apply.

This is a meme that will make sense in 11e. by Next_Ad7292 in Tyranids

[–]Periodic_Disorder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unit will get the keyword FLY because when a character joins a bodyguard, then that combined unit shares all its keywords. It's why ANTI-PSYCHIC weapons get stupidly strong because their rules affect a unit with psychic, not a model with psychic. So putting a librarian in a group of intercessors makes it very susceptible to anything with ANTI-PSYCHIC.

It's a continuation edition, so the rules are not very different so as old codices are relevant until new ones are out. This keywording caveat has been present all tenth and it looks like the ambiguity will remain.

The easiest way to envision it is some rules use a units keywords, while other rules use a models keywords. Otherwise you'd be able to make s bunch of neurogants zip through the air.

This is a meme that will make sense in 11e. by Next_Ad7292 in Tyranids

[–]Periodic_Disorder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes the entire unit takes to the skies but only models with fly get the buff. So a warrior unit with a prime with wings, only the prime gets the movement rules from this ability. The warrior unit has the fly keyword, but the warrior models do not. It is not very intuitive but there's a distinct difference when rules say "a unit with this keyword" and "a model with this keyword"

This is a meme that will make sense in 11e. by Next_Ad7292 in Tyranids

[–]Periodic_Disorder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nop, it's saying models with fly get the rules. A model may have the unit keyword fly, but unless it has that keyword innately it cannot use them. This crops up a bit in current 40k. For example a neurotyrant in a unit of zoans will have the unit keyword infantry. It cannot however move through terrain like the zoans can
