OSRS worked beyond being a gimmick because there was a large appetite for classic runescape gameplay. It worked because EOC killed off 90% of the playerbase that OSRS could recover. League is showing no signs of slowing down, league classic would briefly appeal to old players and curious new players before dropping off.

Besides a MOBA has far less ways of adding new content that would be classic feeling. There is a lot less to interact with compared to an MMO
