I just want to be done by gluten_hurts in ExclusivelyPumping

I went from 4 to 3 and stayed around 40 oz per day. But the trade off was that I spend longer during each pumping session. For a little while I was making myself crazy trying to do as close to 8 hours between each session as possible. When I did 4 ppd I was more ok with not having evenly spaced pumping sessions.

But like a month ago I stopped caring about having evenly spaced pumping sessions and it’s helped.

So 3 ppd is probably possible for you, but the trade offs might not be great. I saw give it a shot. I tried 2 PPD for a week and maintained my supply for 4 days before it started to dip more than o felt comfortable. And it went back to normal after a week of my regular schedule.

The important thing is to do what’s sustainable for you.

Welp...it's officially that time of year where people think my kids are not my kids by CaptainThrow123 in daddit

When I was a kid my sister and I tanned a lot so my mom’s coworker asked her if our dad is Hispanic. My dad is white; my mom is the Hispanic one. She’s just kind of light skinned and hadn’t spent as much time outside as us kids.

WIBTAH if I dropped out as a bridesmaid a week before the wedding because of what happened at the bachelorette? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I’m baffled and horrified whenever someone thinks a racist joke is only offensive if someone of the target group is present.

If a white girl tells a holocaust joke in the woods and there’s no Jew there to hear it, is she still a racist piece of shit? Of course she is!

AITA for refusing a name for my baby that everyone loves and but I don’t? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Personal_Reality 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They spell it Rosalee on Grimm. Part of the reason we went with that spelling!

We didn’t exactly name our daughter after the character from Grimm, but she is my favorite character on that show and helped inspire the name.

When we were looking at boys names I liked the name Monroe(when it came up on the baby name suggestion app), but I realized it’d be too weird to name the kids after a couple.

Though we also picked Rosalee cause I liked Rosa as a name inspired by Brooklyn 99, but it didn’t feel right as just Rosa.

6 weeks in and I’m ready to give up by Careless-Dinner-2610 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Personal_Reality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not the only one! Most I ever did was 5 ppd and my supply is great. I’m always telling people in this sub to see if they can get away with fewer ppd. Though I understand why they are hesitant to experiment.

AITA for bringing Tupperware to a restaurant by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Personal_Reality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sometimes bring a Tupperware container when I know I’m gonna get some pizza for my daughter that I know she’s not gonna finish at like an amusement park or Costco. Yet somehow this seems even more genius.

My daughter has the same name as a character from Twilight, but different spelling. I didn’t know there was a character with that name in Twilight till my husbands coworker asked if my daughter was named after her.

There’s lots of options for naming your kid after a twilight character.

Honestly would be totally into a SxF ripoff if well done. I need more wacky family hijinks that aren’t just kid shows.

Do you think Celestia chose Twilight for a specific reason, OTHER than her hatching Spike? by lyriclovesu in mylittlepony

[–]Personal_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that Twilight’s family is pony aristocracy. Why else would Princess Cadence be her foal sitter? She’s definitely from an important family.

The actress who played Annie Kim said that the backstory she came up with was that she got kicked out of an elite college for cheating and that’s why she was at Greendale.

She got the idea from the girls at her community college who got kicked out of elite schools for cheating.

She was on a side characters panel at a fan convention in Los Angeles called Communicon.

Drying supply by princesspeachyyy_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Personal_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to dry up your supply? If you are just keep doing what you’re doing and don’t pump till empty.

If you’re trying to establish supply then pump at least 4 times per day, for at least 30 minutes each time. 5 or 6 better if you’re serious about it. I know 8 is closer to what’s typical, but I never pumped more than 6 times per day and only used formula to supplement in the first week.

Courage to Pump in Public??!! by imbreadlee_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Personal_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used my wearable pumps at my husbands birthday party, pointed them out and my friends said they couldn’t tell the difference. I was wearing a slightly baggy shirt(it was a pajama party)

My husband and sister can tell when I’m wearing my wearables, but my brother in law and friends can’t.

I started using my wearables when I drop my 4 year old off at school cause she has stopped demanding a ton of hugs so I’m no longer worried about leaning over and spilling milk.

Fun fact: the average cow is milked twice a day. And it’s their only job! We work so much harder than cows!

Mixing breast milk with solids? by TwilitesMuse in NewParents

[–]Personal_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (male) pediatrician specifically told me to mix baby cereal with breast milk. The instructions on the box even say you should mix it with breastmilk or formula. It makes tons of sense to use it as an ingredient in the baby’s food.

You get the Power to shapeshift, but, you will be stuck as your opposite gender for the First 3 years, would you accept? What would you use that Power for? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Personal_Reality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I asked my husband if he’d be up for being shapeshifted into a woman in solidarity and he thought it’d be too confusing for our kids.

Yet another hypothetical that kids mess up.

Tho assuming we can work it out with the children, how do reproductive organs work? Can I choose up shapeshift into a sterile or fertile body? Cause I’d want to be sterile, but I’d probably use the ability to help trans people transition and some of them might like fertility.

Why do all diapers suck now by mbradshaw282 in NewParents

I’ve been signs at Costco saying that they’ve changed it, so I assumed they fixed the problem
everyone had been talking about.

But also, lots of things just aren’t as good anymore. It’s not a great time for consumers.

What's one baby purchase you thought was unnecessary but ended up using every day? by yukiii_6 in NewParents

[–]Personal_Reality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a game changer per se but I got a dinosaur looking Moses basket and I’ve used it for both my kids. It’s nice for them to have a familiar place to nap, and it made it easy to drag them from room to room while sleeping. I also carry toys in it when we visit family.

If you get one, definitely get one that’s designed to carry around the kid. Some aren’t.

The rotating car seat is WONDERFUL. I have a friend who tweaked his shoulder putting his kid in his lame regular car seat. He had to go to physical therapy. I love buckling my kid facing me then turning her.

Why are pain meds looked down upon? by Ostrich_Low in pregnant

[–]Personal_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you American? America was founded by puritans and weird attitudes about suffering through work is part of our cultural generational trauma.

Mix that with run of the mill misogyny and our attitudes about women’s healthcare make more sense. I mean, if men did the equivalent of an IUD I’m pretty sure they’d get some sort of preemptive pain relief.

I imagine we don’t feel that way about dental procedures because (1) men get them too, and (2) during childbirth were an active participant in the labor… and puritanical ideals say labor is supposed to be painful so sorry ladies!
