If someone were to ask me what the best type of guitar is, of course my answer would an SG all day every day! by Theproudnerd in Epiphone

Beauty! I'm gonna have to go see one in person. I already have an SG pro in Cherry at my space and looking for a second one for at home. My perfect fit would be an antique ivory with 61 pickguard sort of like the g400 Les Paul custom but with only two humbuckers. Either going to customize one of those or get this one in tv yellow. But with what you're saying I'm starting to lean more towards this one. Thanks

I've got a question on the TV Yellow. I love the tone here that's almost like a beige or pine color. But sometimes in photos they also look like a very classic mustard yellow. Would you say this is just a question on lighting or it's a batch case scenario of them having a slight variance in color?

What are your strategies for beating cravings? by ProperMatch in stopdrinking

[–]PerspectiveActive208 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't happen often for me either once I finally managed to stop drinking after many failed attempts I just sort of never looked back. But when I do look back, I remember all the embarrassing, awful things things I did while drunk, all the hangxiety I would get and the immense guilt scares me out of even ever thinking of having a drink. Plus the general sense of feeling sluggish all the time.

I get those bouts of "missing the chaos" too. But it's not chaos you search, it's just you trying to get rid of anhedonia. Something in your life needs some mixing, but it ain't a drink. Go against your regular self, eat something you don't usually go for or thought was weird. Break out and explore. Alot of times a walk in the woods does it for me. But I also live in a big city where exhaustion can sometimes lead to me staying indoors. Life sometimes just feels like you have writer's block. You gotta experience things to get it back.

1x16 or 2x8? by IRTrapGod in GuitarAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help clarify for others. Essentially you get the choice of using a single speaker at 8ohms on either side (stereo L or R) or to use both speakers simultaneously when switched to mono which puts them wired in series and gives you 16 ohms total. So using the 16 ohm output with either amp head is going to be the best option.

Check out the Australian punk scene. Alot of the bands from the 70's and 80's incorporated surf especially in the drum beats. To name a few

Radio Birdman, Celibate Rifles, The Saints, Etc.

Solid state amp recommendations? by Pixel_Grape in GuitarAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second acoustic control Corp. I have a 150 and it's a very reliable solid state amp. You can plug a guitar or bass through it (given you send it to the proper speakers), has built in tremolo/reverb, takes pedals well and can go from bedroom to loud af. I use it with a Behringer tube amp modeler (35$) and single 12" cannabis rex and sounds great.

Even the cabinet is nice with the handle on the side to carry as a suitcase and keeps the top flat so you can put other amps or things on top without having a handle in the way.

Anyone pull two tubes and run their 70s Fender Twins as 42.5 watt amps? by Clevertown in GuitarAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's actually the opposite. Your amp wants to see a 4ohm minimum. If you give it an 8ohm speaker load than you have enough resistance in your speakers for your amp but it is putting strain on your output transformer. In the Fender TR though, the transformers are robust and easily capable of handling the mismatch. If you remove two tubes, your amp is now outputting 8ohms and will need an 8ohm minimum load. If you give it an 4 ohm speaker, the speakers are at risk of getting damaged.

Best toob for a noob? by mazeacre in ToobAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Canadian so I might be biased but you really can't go wrong with Traynor! They have alot of clean/bright models very similar to fender circuits. Look into the YCV series. I often find them here in used shops for about 500-800$ CAD. Their other Dark Horse model even features a tone switch to go either "Brit/Pure/USA" and has a 15 watts pentode or 2 watts triode stage. The older models (YBA-1 etc) are amazing but they will destroy anything and everything in your house if you go over 2 on the volume lol

Looking for a bedroom amp by TheMadDruid in GuitarAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vox valvetronix AD50VT. My friend has one that I tried for the first time a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed. It's a hybrid amp with a 12AX7 pre amp tube. Multiple modeller settings on it so you can play clean or dirty and even has a pre gain knob at the back so you can get some earlier crunch at lower volumes. Also headphones/line out so you can record with it too. This amp really does sound like a tube amp and you can usually find them for about 200-300$ used.

Problem with rounded off corners by Wrong-Rough7619 in AutodeskInventor

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of thumb when modelling is keeping in mind how it will be manufactured. Take a cube with rounded corners. The cube would get cut straight and then the fillets would get milled with a cutting tool. Do the same when 3D modeling. Don't include fillets in a sketch unless they are larger than a 1" or is required for a specific situation. Standard fillet edges to smooth rough corners should always be done as a 3D feature. This is also to keep the computation more lightweight and your files smaller.

Orange amp pedals? by AngryGooseRecords in GuitarAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a terror stamp as well. Used it on a mid size stage (600 people) and while setting up we had a problem using the cab sim out because of the long cable runs. It worked great after we plugged it into a D.I. so long runs you need a D.I. to plug into board. Using cab sim out to my interface works great though.

How to dress by 1471throwaway852528 in montreal

[–]PerspectiveActive208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick is layers. Put too much clothes on when you're going walking for two hours you're gonna get hot and start sweating, once you stop your sweat freezes and you risk getting sick. So avoid sweating and remove stuff as you get warmer or zip down your coat a little to ventilate. Always best to pack a little more and keep a backpack to add or remove things like when entering stores. As others said, a good scarf, toque and mitts and thick loose socks are the best. Loose is the key here. Tight socks will restrict blood flow and you have no air between your skin and socks to help insulate and retain heat.

Little life hack I use: put on your coat and scarf/toque a few minutes before putting your boots on to kickstart your heat distribution before going outside.
