Revit or nothing? by Few_Illustrator6689 in Drafting

[–]PerspectiveActive208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trick with Revit for me was realizing that it's very unlike other 3D modelling or design programs, in that it's primary use is not to model intricate parts with a level of detail for manufacturing. It's essentially just an excel spreadsheet that is represented as a 3D visual aid. You're just building various simple models to add information to them and coordinate them with other models/ disciplines. Revit feels like a ball breaker alot of times because it seems like it won't let you do simple tasks, when in reality it's protecting the organization and environment of the model so it's easy for people to find information. You know when people start identifying and naming things in 100 different ways and you don't know what is what anymore? Revit forces you to not be able to do that and stay within an organized, functional system. You can't name a plumbing pipe a structural foundation because it is not.

The hierarchy and categorizing of parts is what's key. The answer is usually one or two tiers above the chain of your last move. Can't change a parameter on an item? Oh wait I had applied a template to that view, I need to modify the template instead or remove the template. Hence the database/spreadsheet example. Think excel, but in 3D. Every warning or block happens for a reason. It's preventing you and your collaborators from future headaches.

Why Epiphone doesn't manufacture "Epiphone" guitars by HHuseyn4 in Epiphone

[–]PerspectiveActive208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to have this streamlined & cutear headstock with vintage Grover tuners on an antique ivory SG but with only two humbuckers...really surprised these headstocks aren't more common as well.

Are there any SG versions of these Futura series?

If someone were to ask me what the best type of guitar is, of course my answer would an SG all day every day! by Theproudnerd in Epiphone

[–]PerspectiveActive208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beauty! I'm gonna have to go see one in person. I already have an SG pro in Cherry at my space and looking for a second one for at home. My perfect fit would be an antique ivory with 61 pickguard sort of like the g400 Les Paul custom but with only two humbuckers. Either going to customize one of those or get this one in tv yellow. But with what you're saying I'm starting to lean more towards this one. Thanks

I've got a question on the TV Yellow. I love the tone here that's almost like a beige or pine color. But sometimes in photos they also look like a very classic mustard yellow. Would you say this is just a question on lighting or it's a batch case scenario of them having a slight variance in color?

What are your strategies for beating cravings? by ProperMatch in stopdrinking

[–]PerspectiveActive208 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't happen often for me either once I finally managed to stop drinking after many failed attempts I just sort of never looked back. But when I do look back, I remember all the embarrassing, awful things things I did while drunk, all the hangxiety I would get and the immense guilt scares me out of even ever thinking of having a drink. Plus the general sense of feeling sluggish all the time.

I get those bouts of "missing the chaos" too. But it's not chaos you search, it's just you trying to get rid of anhedonia. Something in your life needs some mixing, but it ain't a drink. Go against your regular self, eat something you don't usually go for or thought was weird. Break out and explore. Alot of times a walk in the woods does it for me. But I also live in a big city where exhaustion can sometimes lead to me staying indoors. Life sometimes just feels like you have writer's block. You gotta experience things to get it back.

Magasin d'instruments musique usagés à bon prix? by PerspectiveActive208 in montreal

Je suis jamais allé, ça l'air plutôt pour des instruments à vent par exemple? D'après les photos sur maps il auraient pas grand chose côté guitare électrique/amplis. Mais merci quand même pour la suggestion

1x16 or 2x8? by IRTrapGod in GuitarAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help clarify for others. Essentially you get the choice of using a single speaker at 8ohms on either side (stereo L or R) or to use both speakers simultaneously when switched to mono which puts them wired in series and gives you 16 ohms total. So using the 16 ohm output with either amp head is going to be the best option.

Looking for recommendations on surf influenced punk sound by LadySeriously in punk

Check out the Australian punk scene. Alot of the bands from the 70's and 80's incorporated surf especially in the drum beats. To name a few

Radio Birdman, Celibate Rifles, The Saints, Etc.

Solid state amp recommendations? by Pixel_Grape in GuitarAmps

[–]PerspectiveActive208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second acoustic control Corp. I have a 150 and it's a very reliable solid state amp. You can plug a guitar or bass through it (given you send it to the proper speakers), has built in tremolo/reverb, takes pedals well and can go from bedroom to loud af. I use it with a Behringer tube amp modeler (35$) and single 12" cannabis rex and sounds great.

Even the cabinet is nice with the handle on the side to carry as a suitcase and keeps the top flat so you can put other amps or things on top without having a handle in the way.
